This is just a gentle reminder that Thursday, February 17th will be our second semester Parent-Teacher Night, held in the Robert V. Welch Student Activity Center and the Cafeteria, and beginning at 5:30 p.m. and ending at 7:30 p.m. This is the chance to check to see how your student is able to improve in classes or to meet teachers who are new to your child for semester 2. Mass Information:
From the Desk of the Chaplain ~ Daily Mass is offered in the Chapel at 7:00 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Fr. Munshower encourages members of the Cathedral Family to contact him to have a mass said in memory of a loved one. If you are not able to pay the $10 Mass stipend, you may still submit an intention for our daily Mass. Please contact Fr. Munshower at 968-7362 for details and arrangements. Father also requests that, if you contract a Mass, that someone from your family tries to be in attendance on that day.

Congratulations to Gabby Woodman ('14), who was selected to perform in the Carmel Community Players Valentine's Cabaret Talent Showcase. Selected participants performed individually, and combine for a big group numberduring the finale.The show ran February 11-13 at theCarmel Community Playhouse.
Congratulations to three Cathedral High School students have been selected to participate in the United Way’s “Youth Leadership Initiative” Program this semester. The students are chosen from among high-school students throughout central Indiana and attend training sessions bi-weekly (Saturdays) to gain an understanding of Not-for-Profit leadership skill-development. Those chosen for 2011 session include Meghan Searight (‘12), Katy Hoeper (‘13) and Olivia Odle (‘14).
Congratulations and THANK YOU to the following students who participated in the 2011 American Mathematics Competition on Feb. 8! This is a very difficult and prestigious contest, in which students are invited to participate based on their interest in mathematics, their classroom performance, and their demonstrated problem-solving skills

Commissioning Project Success:
A great big Thank You to the 24 schools and directors from 14 states and 1 foreign country that participated in National Catholic Band Association’s CBA’s first Commissioning Consortium making it a huge success. The title of our new work for band is Two Hymns for Band and is based on the hymns Faith of Our Fathers and Ye Watcher s and Ye Holy Ones. Congratulations to the generous students of Cathedral High School for giving contributions to the Team Peace Care. Holly Baker has been the powerhouse behind this process, and this week, they sent 18 packages to Jaime Lupo Lindsay and the sailors on her Carrier. They are now beginning a second collection to send to her husband, Blake Lindsey, and his military unit.

Summer School 2011:
The registration form and general information about summer school are available in the January and February Insight. You may also access summer school information through our website, www.cathedral-irish.org, by clicking the Academics tab. Summer school registration begins on Monday, February 28th and ends on Friday, March 11th.
Blood Drive Tuesday, February 22 from 7:30 am to 3:00 pm in the Robert V. Welch Activity Center lobby. Parents, faculty, staff and students over 17 are encouraged to donate. 16 year old students must have a parental consent form to donate. All donors must present a photo ID and be over 110 lbs. Parents are most welcomed and encouraged to attend a presentation by Dr. Tim Kelly of Fairbanks Hospital to be held March 3rd in the Student life Center Commons starting at 7:00 p.m. Dr. Kelly is well known and respected for his work in addictions treatment and will offer some insights into teens and teen drug/alcohol use. We hope that you will join members of the Cathedral staff in learning from Dr. Kelly.
We have a good-sized greenhouse that was built behind Cathedral High School last summer. If there are parents who are master gardeners or who may enjoy working with our students on the greenhouse, please email me at about your interest. Thank you!
On Tuesday, February 22nd from 9:30 a.m. -11:00 a.m. U.S. Customs and Border Protection Presents its 2011 African American History Month Celebration at Olivet Missionary Baptist Church. Cathedral has been invited to attend. Bus transportation will be provided. Cathedral Gospel Choir will be performing. Mr. Roland S. Martin, nationally known syndicated columnist and author will be the guest speaker. Space is limited. If you are interested in attending please pick up a Permission Slip at the front desk. I am Kristy Fozzard, Manager of Volunteer Programs here at WFYI Public Broadcasting. I am always looking for new ways to recruit volunteers to be PBS characters/mascots. WFYI has events throughout the year that we need volunteers for and I thought of some area high schools that may have some students interested in being mascots. Junior/Senior Parent Meeting
Please join us Monday, March 14th for an important meeting for all junior and senior parents. Mr. Worland, Mr. Greer and Mrs. Witka will discuss important topics of graduation and prom. They will also answer any questions and hear your concerns about these topics and other things on your mind. The meeting is sponsored by Cathedral Connection/Mothers’ Club and will begin at 7 p.m. in the SLC commons. After this portion of the meeting, Mothers Club reps will stay to field any additional questions or concerns to be passed along to the school administrators.
