NOTICE OF RACE

PYYC ANNUAL FOUNDING FATHERS’ REGATTA

SATURDAY 24th – SUNDAY 25th JUNE 2017

1.The organizing authority for the regatta will be The Port of Yamba Yacht Club.

2.The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing 2017-2020.

3.Racing rules 26, 29.1 and 33 of Part 3 and 42.1, 42.3(h) and 44.1 of Part 4 will be amended. Thesechanges will appear in full in the Sailing Instructions.

4.The Sailing Instructions and course sheets will be handed out at registration.

5.The regatta will consist of three races, two Round the Buoys races on Saturday 24 June at 10.30am and 1.30pm, and one passage race on Sunday 25 June at 10.30am. All races will be conducted in the Clarence River.

6.Registration of boats competing in the regatta will be between 8.00am and 9.00am on both days for the three races. Race briefings will be held at 9.00am.

7.Entries, registration, sign on, briefings and presentations will all take place at the Port of Yamba Yacht Club, Yamba Marina.

8.The regatta is open to all classes of sailing boats over 4 metres in length, including monohulls, multihulls, trailer-sailors and off-the-beach boats.

9.Eligible boats may enter by completing the entry form and sending it to The Port of Yamba Yacht Club, Founding Fathers’ Regatta, P.O. Box 237, Yamba, NSW, 2464, or by e-mail to , to be received by 16 June. Entry forms can be downloaded from our web-site or collected from the club. Boats that have sailed in our regattas before and already have a valid PYYC regatta spinnaker performance handicap may enter at time of registration.

10.The regatta fees per boat are $80, or $35 for each individual race. Fees can be paid at registration.

11.Boats will be handicapped using a standard mixed fleet performance handicapping formula. Handicaps will be adjusted between races.

12.Each boat’s corrected times for Saturday’s and Sunday’s three races will be added together to determine the results for the regatta.

13.VHF channel 72 will be used to relay race update information such as shortening or changing the course. Only radio information from “Bar Tender”, the course boat, will be official.

14.Prizes and/or trophies will be given to 1st place in each division of both Saturday’s andSunday’s races and 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in each division for the whole regatta. 3 boats constitute a Division. There will also be trophies for line honours and, Regatta Championship. In addition, winning boats will have their names engraved on the relevantperpetual trophies permanently on display at the club.

15.As well as a race of the regatta, the second of Saturday’s races will also count towards the PYYC Autumn Sunday Series and 2017 PYYC Club Championship.

16.Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See Rule 4 of Part 1,Decision to Race. Sailing can be a dangerous sport and The Port of Yamba YachtClub will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with, prior to, during or after the regatta.

17.Each participating boat shall be insured with valid third-party liability insurance with a minimum cover of A$5 million (or equivalent) for the event and MUST be produced at time of registration. A working VHF radio must be carried by all boats

18.All boats must comply with at least safety equipment category 7.
