Western Michigan Christian is a growing 7th-12th grade educational institution with 340 students based in Norton Shores, Michigan servingstudents from Ottawa, Muskegon, Oceana and Newaygo counties.Western Michigan Christian belongs to a leading edge collaborative with three Christian elementary schools who share services to deliver high quality academics in a cost-effective manner.

JOB TITLE: School Administrator

ACCOUNTABILITY: Reports to WMC School Board

JOB SUMMARY: This executive position has the overall authority, responsibility and accountability for successful operation of the WMC middle and high school in accordance with established policies, procedures, goals and strategies. This position requires a Christian leader who can inspire, lead and direct faculty and managers without direct supervision. This position must effectively and consistently balance WMC’s core strengths of educational excellence and spiritual growth with stewardship of resources, as well as have keen problem solving skills and the ability to respect sensitive information.

AUTHORITY: Department Heads and Faculty

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree, Master’s Preferred.

EXPERIENCE: Proven leadership with skill sets in: Community Building, Communication, Finance, Administration and Education.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

o  Leads by example and clearly articulates and embodies the mission and vision of WMC. Will effectively work as both a team leader and a team player to enhance the school’s position in the community. Will be seen as the leader of the school.

o  Oversees the operation of the school in its consistency with the policies, procedures, goals and strategies set forth by the Board. Administers, coordinates and directs major school activities

o  Keeps Board pro-actively informed of the operations of the school, staff changes, legal actions, all regulatory and compliance issues, as well as capital and equipment needs.

o  Provides the Board with various scenarios to consider in developing the vision of the school by constantly seeking best practices and educational trends.

o  Promote positive public and community relationships with agencies, charities, donors, churches, schools and civic organizations.

o  Will make difficult decisions that will effectively balance the needs of our students with our commitment to excellence and stewardship.

o  Provide direct leadership to department heads and faculty. This team works together to achieve these broad goals:

a)  continuous improvement in all aspects of the school, as measured by WMC’s mission

b)  compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations

c)  budget and financial performance

d)  enhance WMC’s position in the Community

o  Represents the interests of the school in employment matters in accordance with school policy and practice. Promote positive staff relationships within school through prompt resolution of disputes, team building activities and honest communication. Nurtures the spiritual development of faculty, staff and the student body.

o  Monitors and addresses all matters of school culture by correcting negative trends and promoting positive behaviors. Effectively communicates with students, staff, families and constituents.

o  Oversees creation of yearly budget that operates within the means of the school by working with Finance Director and Operations Committee.

o  Maintains the governing documents of the school.

o  Other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Board.
