A damp day did not deter Dog B.O.N.E.S. therapy dog teams from celebrating 5 years of service to the communities of Massachusetts. On Saturday, September 15, 2007 therapy dog teams gathered at the Hale Reservation for a birthday bash fit for all. The Hale reservation provided a terrific setting for our teams to enjoy a walk in the woods and a place for our canine friends to mingle.
The event began with dog biscuit hor d’ourves served by wait staff to our guests of honor, our canine friends. Of course their human companions were treated as well to a catered BBQ affair.
Several of the facilities we visited provided items for our raffle as well as monetary donations to assist with the cost of the event.
Our latest Dog BONES Therapy Dog team apparel was introduced to all; sweatshirts and baseball caps. For our next outdoor event we may want to consider rain ponchos.
The main purpose of the event was to thank all of our therapy dog teams who over the years have given generously or their time and energy to visiting wherever and whenever asked. It is these teams who have made Dog B.O.N.E.S. such a successful organization! Of our 250 teams 32 therapy dog teams and board members are celebrating 5 years of service and were awarded a 5 year patch and certificate.
