Maisie’s Dragon

Once upon a time there was a little girl called Maisie who had a pet dragon. Early one morning she woke up and found her dragon had gone so she set out to look for him.

After a while she met a friendly farmer. “Have you seen my pet dragon?” asked Maisie.

“No,” said the farmer. “However I did see something chasing the ducks on the pond and making them quack.”

“Thanks,” said Maisie and on she ran.

After a while she met a tall teacher. “Have you seen my pet dragon?” asked Maisie.

“No,” said the teacher, “However I did see something playing with the children and making them laugh.”

“Thanks,” said Maisie and on she ran.

After a while she met a short shopkeeper. “Have you seen my pet dragon?” asked Maisie.

“No,” said the shopkeeper. “However I did see something knocking down my tins and making a mess.”

“Thanks,” said Maisie and on she ran.

After a while she met a bossy builder. “Have you seen my pet dragon?” asked Maisie.

“No,” said the builder. “However I did see something rolling in the mud and getting filthy.”

“Thanks,” said Maisie and on she ran.

After a while she met a hairy horse. “Have you seen my pet dragon?” asked Maisie.

“NEIGHhhhhh,” said the horse.

“Bye,” said Maisie and on she ran.

After a while she found herself all alone. “I give up,” said Maisie and home she ran.

There curled up in his basket was a tired and dirty dragon. “Oh dragon,” said Maisie. “What have you been up to?”
