  • October is National Principal appreciation month. The National Honor Society/ Student Council has several activities planned to “Thank a Principal”! We are encouraging everyone to take a selfie with a principal and tweet it out, using the hash tag #ThankaPrincipal. We are also having a trivia contest to see how well you know your principals. The first question is; Can you name the principal who has ridden his or her bicycle across the entire state of Iowa? If you think you know the answer submit it to Mrs. Kratina in room 141 or Mrs. Brewer in room 127. There will be prizes!
  • Congratulations to the Marching Band for their performances on Saturday in Blue Springs, Missouri. The Band placed 1st in their class winning Best Music, Best Visual, and Best General Effect. They finished 2nd overall.
  • October 2nd is National Custodian Day and we want to recognize them for all their hard work, take some time today and thank a custodian.
  • Students interested in learning sign language, there will be another short meeting during GPS on Thursday, October 5th. Mrs. Hunt will take attendance during that time.

  • This reminder to staff: all students should receive their first count form now. Review the handout with your students. Students should put advisory teachers name and room number on the side of the form with the letter.
    Staff should collect these forms throughTuesday, October 17. At that time a class list should be turned in with the names of those people that have not turned in forms highlighted
  • Hello Tbirds! Just letting you know there's a pancake feed after this Friday’s football game to support Crohns and Colitis. It's $1 per pancake and we hope to see you there!
  • Another winner! Asja Woodardanswered the "Thank-a-principal" question correctly! It is Dr. Pokorski who grew up on a farm near a small town in Iowa, that had NO stoplights! She walked beans and bailed hay as a summer job. In high school she was in the marching band, show choir, forensics, ran cross country, participated in 4-H was in NHS and Student Council, Wow!
    Today's question is: Which principal graduated from this high school, and spends lots of time watching Bellevue West sports and activities?

  • Today winners of the "Thank-a-principal" Jennifer Gould! Jennifer correctly guessed Mr. Mauro! Mr. Mauro Graduated from Bellevue West High School in the 90's and was an All-American soccer player. His favorite food is anything the cafeteria is serving. His Wife is also a teacher in the Bellevue Public Schools and they have three children. In his free time, he attends activities and athletic events.
    Today we spotlight our 4th principal, Dr. Larry Murry. Dr. Murry says he's camera shy. Dr. Murry is writing a book about his educational experiences, enjoys his family and grandkids and likes to watch professional basketball and football.

  • SAVE THE DATE. Auditions for the Explosion Show Choir will be held on Monday, October 16 at 6:30 p.m. This performing group is open to grades 9-12. Audition details will be in the announcements next week.
