PURPOSE OF THE JOB
This post has been established to tackle the challenging funding climate in which the organisation operates. Irish in Britain faces particular challenges as an ethnic specific infrastructure support agency. The post holder will be required to understand our vision and work, be able to link it effectively with wider funding opportunities within Trusts, Foundations, statutory and corporate environmentsin order to raise a significant amount to be agreed in Year 1. The Trust Fundraiser will have a broad remit and this role will offer scope for development. Reporting to the Chief Executive they will receive regular supervision and support sessions to set targets and monitor outcomes. The post holder will be expected to work closely with other members of the organisation and external stakeholders as necessary. Ultimately the purpose of this appointment is to generate additional income. The success of the post holder will be assessed substantively on that.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Take lead responsibility for researching and identifying new trusts and foundations as well as potential corporate supporters
  • To write funding proposals for new and existing projects in consultation with CEO and stakeholders
  • Develop and retain a pipeline of funding opportunities and produce funding and monitoring reports as required
  • Develop and maintain a database of key contacts for all small and medium sized trust relationships,
  • Develop appropriate donor care programmes ensuring that quality standards are maintained and support increased from this source
  • Take daily responsibility for day to day administration of all donations, including the processing of CAF vouchers and Gift Aid claims
  • Implement a rolling programme of submissions to Trusts and Foundations for both core and project grants
To reconcile departmental accounts with Finance Manager periodically and as required
  • Maintain and work to an accurate personal work-plan of scheduled fundraising activity and proposal submissions and ensure timely and accurate reporting to donors.
  • Support the CEO in donor stewardship as and when requested and to attend events and take up networking opportunities which occasionally occur out of office hour (TOIL will be approved in line with our policies and procedures)
  • Be scrupulous about ensuring that any terms and conditions to report back to funders are met
  • Recruit, supervise and manage fundraising volunteers and interns as agreed with line management
  • To respond to inbound communications about fundraising as appropriate
  • Undertake any other duties as may be reasonably requested from time to time by line management
  • To act at all times in a way which will not risk compromising the reputation of the charity.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS
KNOWLEDGE OF
Knowledge of the Voluntary Sector and in particular, fundraising within partnerships
Knowledge and understanding of community health and social care issues
Knowledge of the impact of political and social environments on fundraising and funders
EXPERIENCE OF
  • A Extensive experience of fundraising from trusts, foundations or other sources
  • approximately 5 years’ experience of writing successful funding applications for challenging causes
  • Experience of working to exacting deadlines
  • Experience of producing project budgets

•Excellent written and oral communication skills
•Excellent organisational skills
TECHNICAL AND PROFESSIONAL SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE
  • Education to degree level or equivalent experience
  • Excellent research skills
  • Excellent IT skills, including Word and Excel
  • High level of self-motivation and experience of working under one's own initiative, as well as member of a small, interdependent team
  • Ability and willingness to work some unsociable hours (evenings / weekends) and to occasionally travel out of London
