March Competition

March competition was held in conjunction with annual comp against the Salties on the week end of 16-18 March. Unfortunately wind and rain made for very uncomfortable fishing conditions and only a few brave souls faced the elements. Two o four members, Wally Scott and Rob Nyburg weighed fish while Billy Stringer was the only Salties member to present fish. Even so Salties managed to just pip us out with Billy weighing in a barra and queenfish for a total of 126.75 points against our total of 113.39 points. In spite of the conditions we had a good turn out from both clubs to the weigh in which was held at the Hermit Park Hotel. Results for our club comp are summarised below:

April Competition

Open competition was held on week end of 13-15 April. Again only a fairly small contingent was able to present fish. A nice selection of estuary fish was weighed. Rob Nyburg has one hand on teh lowest point scoring fish trophy with a creek jew of 0.35kg on 10kg All Tackle for a total of 3.4 points.Thanks to Mark & Deb Cooney for hosting the weigh in. May Comp

May competition will be a closed comp restricted to the freshwater weirs on the Ross River to be held on the week end of 25-27 May.

Top Ten Competition 2012

Entries continue to flow in which is pleasing to see. Remember fish entered must comply with all legal length and ANSA minimum length restrictions as well as any closed seasons which may apply. It would also be helpful if you could identify the fish as well as sending photos. It is often difficult to identify particular species, eg cod, bream, grunter etc.

Terrible Creek

A number of members attended the annual ANSA gathering at “Terrible Creek” over the May Day long week end run by the Collinsville Club. Following recent rain the Bowen River was running strongly and the camp grounds were in very good condition. Some fished hard while most played hard. It was pleasing to see a number of members who had not attended before coming along and enjoying the experience.
