Introductions

-Introduction by Jim Hall

Meeting Minutes – November 16, 2007

-Jim Hall led a brief review of Minutes of Nov. 16, 2007.

-There were no changes to the minutes.

Organization review – API, G/L Task Group

-Jim Hall showed the organization of the API Gas=-Lift Task Group.

-There were no changes to the organization.

Sub-Committee 11 Meeting minutes – January 22, 2008

-Jim Hall reviewed the minutes of the API Sub-Committee 11 Meeting that was held in Fort Worth, Texas on Jan. 22, 2008.

-This is the API sub-committee to which the Gas-Lift Task Group reports.

-The SC 11 minutes are attached to these minutes.

-Members of the Task Group discussed several questions about API RP 11V11.

-There were no changes to the Work Group plan for this new work item.

Inventory and Status of Specifications and Recommended Practices

-Jim Hall led a brief review of the current API gas-lift documents.

-Members of the Task Group discussed API RP 11V10.

-API RP 11V5 and 11V10 have been submitted to API SC 11. They will obtain comments from the members of SC 11.

-All other current gas-lift documents were re-authorized by API Sub-Committee 11 for another five years, staring in Jan. 2008.

Work in Progress (11V9, 11V11)

-API RP 11V9 is almost complete. The Work Group will submit this to the Task Group when the draft has been completed.

-API RP 11V11 is just starting. The next meeting will be on Feb. 8, 2008.

API Adoption of ISO Standards

-API wants to have ISO17078.1, 17078.2, 17078.3, and 17078.4 re-incorporated back into API when they have been published by ISO.

-The new API documents will be identical to the existing ISO documents.

-At that time, we may be able to withdraw selected API documents --- e.g. API 11V1, 11V2, and 11V7. This is because the material from these documents has been incorporated into the ISO documents.

-We’ll maintain API 1V5, 11V6, 11V8, 11V9, 11V10, and 11V11. These are recommended practices and have not been incorporated into ISO documents.

-When all four ISO documents are published as International Standards, we need to specifically decide on disposition of the associated API documents.

-This will become a task for the Task Group in 2009.

New Work Item wish list

-Surface controlled gas-lift valves. Maybe this should be in ISO 17078.2. We will check with the ISO gas-lift task group.

-Gas-lift automation. Cleon Dunham volunteers to lead this potential new work item once 11V5, 11V9, and 11V10 are complete.

-Gas-lift design using PPO valves. Options for addressing this are: include it in 11V6, include it in 11V9, or create a new RP. We will not take any action at this time.

-Add a section to 11V6 for valve performance. Ken Decker is willing to work with the 11V6 Work Group on this. He will coordinate with Joe Clegg, chair of the 11V6 Work Group. This should also include discussion of use of 1” vs. 1.5” valves.)

-Make small revisions to 11V8. John Martinez, chair of the 11V8 Work Group, will review 11V8 and work with the Work Group to make any necessary changes.

-Add 1.75” pocket dimensions. This would be part of ISO17078.1 and 17078.2. We will check with the ISO gas-lift task group.

-Reconcile ISO documents back into API. This will be addressed, probably in 2009, after the ISO documents have been published.

-Prepare an RP on compression for gas-lift. This is covered by other API documents. No action is planned at this time.

-Prepare an RO on slick line operations for gas-lift. This is covered in API Book 5. No action is planned at this time.

AOB

-Vince gave “kudos” for the gas-lift workshop.

Next Meeting date

-The meeting will likely be a teleconference from Shell Woodcreek --- target July 15, 2008.
