Description
Aim: The objective of this course is to enable the student to carry out simple tasks regarding design and dimensioning of offshore structures used in the exploitation of oil and gas and other ocean resources.
Prerequisites: Subject SIN0501 Marin teknikk 1, SIN 1001 Marin teknikk 2, SIN 2001 Marin teknikk 3, SIN 1501 Marin hydrodynamikk og konstruksjonsteknikk GK1 and SIN 1010 Marin hydrodynamikk og konstruksjonsteknikk GK2.
Contents: Overview of structural concepts. Serviceability and safety requirements. Fabrication and installation requirements. Review of loads, load effect and (system) strength analysis and dimensioning against ultimate and fatigue failure. Load carrying behaviour of floating, semi-floating and fixed structures. Use of steel, aluminium and other materials. Selection of system layout. Platform concept selection.
Teaching methods: Lectures, exercises. Exercises count 40% in the grading: 1 home exercise: 15%. Midterm exercise: 2 hrs: 25%
