SLO Fun Meeting Notes

Present: Kim Beyrer, Diane Belair, Deborah Knowles, Christina Hernandez, Molly Springer & Deb Luff. Absent: Sharlene Tran, Gayle Pitman (SLOAC) and Andre Coleman

Online form update and status.

Two issues were noted in using the online tool.

1. Unable to access on a specific date (district IT issue – resolved).

2.Unable to link back to a SLO not originally selected during the creation of a report. At this time there is no way to include an additional SLO to an existing report.

3.Questions regarding who is trying to pull reports, what reports are needed and why the current format in the online tool is insufficient still need to be addressed.

4. Are reports open for public viewing?

5. Gayle was sent an email message with a request to login on to the Student Services SLO report and to identify if she can view and edit using her login and password. Gayle reported she can do both…. is this an error or is Gayle allowed access because of her role in SLOAC.

6. What happens to an SLO if the department decides to update SLO’s that are no longer relevant? Are they deleted? If so, how will the phased out SLO with rational for deleting it remain available to the person completing the unit plan and program review?

Debrief Student Services Demo & Do

The group members expressed that the Demo & Do provided assistance to reports and thus met the intention of training. Individuals have reached out to SLO-Fun committee members for clarification and assistance with the new online reporting tool.

Discussion items

  • Deb will email reporters regarding 9/23 deadline and the committee will provide support as needed.
  • A standard annual deadline will be set, but need to explore possible alignment with Instruction and overall data and reporting needs.
  • Dean’s involvement in the development, assessment and reporting. This item will be discuss at the next meeting. It was mentioned that different areas in Student Services may have a different process – some areas have mostly faculty while others mostly classified members as reporters.
  • It was suggested that Mary Beth attend our next meeting along with the Student Services Dean’s and Deb.

Upcoming meetings

  • The next meeting will be Tuesday, October 18 @ 9:00 in RHN 258. Jarom, Marybeth, Deb, and the Student Services Deans will be invited to explore ideas related to connecting to unit plans, program review, and any other data needs; how to pull reports; and other related matters.
