FAMILIES:As a family of a School Without Walls student, we promise to actively do the following each day:

  • Make sure the child attends school each day, arrives on time and attends all classes.
  • Make sure the child is prepared with paper, pen, pencil, and other necessary materials and supplies every day.
  • Make sure that homework is completed each night.
  • Support SWW so that my child will have a respectful attitude and follow all rules and guidelines of the school.
  • Communicate with teachers and attend scheduled conferences.
  • Provide SWW with current contact information.
  • Emphasize that profanity, inappropriate gestures, degrading others, and fighting is NEVER acceptable and that SWW is a PEACEFUL and NON-VIOLENT community.
  • Help the child take financial responsibility for any damaged or lost school, teacher, or student property, for example: books, computers, calculators and lab equipment.

STUDENT:As a School Without Walls student, I understand that the following are my responsibility, and I will:

  • Attend school and every class on time every day.
  • Be prepared with paper, pen, pencil and other necessary materials and supplies every day.
  • Be drug and alcohol free at all times – including personal needs time.
  • Complete homework every night and turn in assignments by their deadlines.
  • Write in my journal daily.
  • Attend and actively participate in all conferences with my advisor.
  • Actively engage in classroom and school-wide decision making and activities.
  • Work to the best of my ability every day.
  • Assertively express my curiosity and citizenship.
  • Never use profanity, inappropriate gestures, degrade others, gossip, or fight.
  • Attend all school activities – including class trips outside of building.
  • Take full responsibility for completing Performance Based Assessments on time.
  • Follow all school rules, abide by all rules and guidelines as outlined in the Student and Family Handbook, and have a polite and respectful attitude toward everyone in our community.
  • Participate in community service each quarter.
  • Respect others’ property and take financial responsibility for any damaged or lost school, teacher or student property, for example: books, computers, calculators and lab equipment

Wefurtherunderstand that:

  • SWW uses its Performance Based Assessment Process, Senior Projects and the Regents English Exam in place of requiring students to pass five (5) Regents exams as a graduation requirement.
  • SWW does not assign letter grades on student work or on student transcripts – we are on a pass/fail system. Students either “meet standards”, “exceed standards”, or “not meet standards”.
  • We do not participate in the NCAA. Students who wish to play sports after high school should not attend SWW.
  • Not following this contract will result in the student being asked to leave SWW and transfer to another school that is more suitable, or may result in the student not graduating or being allowed to participate in SWW graduation ceremonies.
