Eastern Plumas Winter Snow Fest….where fun has a snowball effect
Presidents Day Weekend, February 18-21,2011
Come outside and enjoy the abundant white stuff in new ways! There will be snow volleyball, snow castle building, and snowball tossing competitions for kids of all ages. Snow Golf, Snowshoe races, cross-country skiing and a family triathlon will also be part of the activities to be staged at the beautiful pristine Grizzly Creek Ranch on Hwy. 70 and Grizzly Rd one mile east of Portola. Sleigh rides, Sled dog demos and rides available for the young and young at heart!
Will also include an Ultimate Snowmobile Weekend, a Friday night Moonlight Ride (full moon) at LakeDavis,Saturday the annual Rotary Poker Run at LakeDavis, Sunday Picnic and Play day at Howard Meadow, Monday a Breakfast Ride at LakeDavis. The Ultimate Snowmobile Weekend!
Also, Not-to-be-missed on Sunday are the colorful and zany Historic Longboard Ski Revival Races at Plumas-Eureka Ski Bowl in Johnsville, where competitors in period costumes descend the hill on 12-16 foot long wooden skis using a single pole between the legs as a brake. Exciting? Yes! With an after the race gathering at Longboards Restaurant for drinks or beer; and Pizza at Gumbas Italian Restaurant.
Night-time entertainment will be going on as well,
Friday at Grizzly Creek Ranch there will be dinner and crowning of the Snow Queen and her court. Sleigh rides will also be offered after dinner.
Saturday evening’s entertainment is sponsored by the Railroad Days Committee, and will take place at the Memorial Hall in Portola for Eats, Drinks, and Lots of Fun!
Sunday evening’s banquet, entertainment and awards ceremony will be held at Longboards Restaurant.

Ultimate Snowmobile Weekend, a Friday night Moonlight Ride (full moon, for you romantics) at LakeDavis,Saturday the annual Rotary Poker Run at LakeDavis, Sunday Picnic, Play day and timed trials at Howard Meadow, Monday a Breakfast Ride at LakeDavis.
Friday before the Moonlight ride there will be dinner and crowing of the Snow Queen and her court.; at Grizzly Creek Ranch. Sleigh rides will also be offered after dinner.

Snow Golf. Come see how your handicap holds up in the Snow Golf Festival Tournament. It will be a short but challenging 9 hole course. Bring your family along to enjoy the activities and festivities planned for the Snow Fest weekend.
