Daily Routines
When entering my classroom, always do the following:
1. Place homework in the appropriate folder
2. Write down the homework assignment from the board
3. Complete the Do-Now (either from the board or a handout)
4. The daily agenda will always be written on the board
5. On occasion, an exit ticket must be completed before leaving class
Exit tickets
- These will be collected as you leave class and checked. A cumulative grade will be given for all exit tickets in each marking period.
Required supplies for my class
- A 3 ring binder with the following sections:
o Notes
o Handouts
o Labs
o Tests/quizzes
- This is subject to a random notebook check – a grade will be given
Notes
- Notes are always given in PowerPoint format
- Quizzes and tests are based off of the notes
- Notes will be checked at random for completion, organization, and neatness
Absences
- If you are absent, it is your responsibility to get the notes you missed
- If you are absent on a test or quiz day, you must make it up the day you return to school
- You will not be excused for ANY ASSIGNMENTS because of being absent
- You must see me your first day back
Passes
- NO PASSES are given for the office, guidance, lockers, or the see other teachers. A pass will be given for the bathroom only
General Points
- No cell phones
- No food or drink
- I dismiss the class, the bell does not
- Be prepared for class every day
Bathroom
- When leaving the room and reentering, you must sign the log
Conduct
- All school rules apply in this classroom
- Good behavior is expected at all times
Discipline Policy
- 1st offense – verbal warning
- 2nd offense – detention
- 3rd offense – gold slip
Detention Policy
- When you are assigned a detention, you will have 1 week to serve it – either before school or after school for 10 minutes
- Failure to serve a detention will result in a phone call home and/or a pink slip sent to the office
Academic Dishonesty
- Students must submit their own work on all assignments including homework, lab reports, research papers, etc. Cheating includes, but is not limited to, looking at another student’s quiz or test, looking at one’s notes while taking a quiz or a test, plagiarizing another student’s homework or assignment, and plagiarizing copyrighted material.
- Any student found cheating will receive a zero for that assignment and a phone call home.
**If I see you talking during a quiz or a test, this will be interpreted as cheating**
Quizzes and Tests
- Quizzes are given roughly once a week
- Tests are given at the end of a chapter or unit
- Study sheets are given before tests
Grading Policy
- Grading is done on a point system
- No extra credit is given, as there are ample opportunities to improve your grade in this class
- Quizzes and tests will make up the majority of points in this class
- Each homework assignment, quiz, test, exit slip, lab report, lap handout summary, notebook check, class participation/conduct will be worth a certain amount of points.

Lab Safety Rules
1. Read the procedure thoroughly
2. Know the location of safety equipment
3. Alert your teacher in the event of an accident
4. Move carefully around the room to avoid spillage, glass breaks, etc.
5. If a foreign substance comes into contact with your eyes, immediately flush the eye for 5 minutes
6. If a chemical reagent comes into contact with skin, rinse with cold water. If it is an acid, wipe the area before rinsing
7. When instructed, wear PPE- goggles, gloves, etc.
8. Wear close toed shoes on lab days
9. Tie hair off of your face
10. Disposals of chemicals as directed by your teacher
11. When measuring out chemicals for a lab, take only what is needed and do not pour extras back into the container
12. Do not ingest any lab material
13. Your lab area must be kept organized throughout the lab to ensure safety
14. A complete clean-up of the lab area must be done before the end of class
15. Hands must be washed at the end of a lab
16. Lab reports and/or lab summary handouts will be completed for each lab
