Directions: You must complete the mandatory summer assignments below. The assignments are on wtps.org under the STUDENTS tab. Click under Students, Summer Assignments, Summer Social Studies, and the links are under AP US History II.

Read 17 & 18 (The West: Exploiting an Empire & The Industrial Society) and take notes on the chapters.

Part 1 – There are three charts to complete (one for Chapter 17 and two for Chapter 18 – please see the Social Studies Summer Assignment webpage for the charts). Please complete the charts using your textbook and/or notes from US 1. The charts must be typed.

Part 2 – SAQs – there is one SAQ per chapter. Make sure you answer each part of the question as per the AP rubric. Your response must be typed.

The summer assignments must be typed and are individual assignments. This means you CANNOT share and copy information with other students. All work that is copied will result in an automatic zero for all assignments in accordance to the school district’s academic integrity policy found on page 9 of your handbook. The due date is the first day of school. No written work will be accepted.

You will take a summer reading test upon your return that will include text based questions and SAQs. You will be allowed to use your finished charts as well as your notes from each chapter on this test.

If you have any questions during the summer, please feel free to contact any of us. We will periodically be checking out emails throughout the summer.
