Physics Activities

Select from the activities below. Each category of activities has a different point value. You must complete activities that add up to at least150 points. Extra points, difficulty of projects chosen and quality of projects will all be considered in final grade. Have fun!

A = 30
  1. Describe a situation when forces are present in your everyday life.
  2. Make a comic strip that shows the use of the physics concepts of forces or motion. (6-8 panels).
  3. Explain with examples one of Newton’s 3 laws of motion(1/2 page).
/ B = 40
  1. Write a rap song about forces and motion
  2. Describe what life would be like if the forces like friction and gravity were not present using specific examples. (1/2 page). Include sketches.
  3. Write a letter to an astronaut asking specific questions about how physics is different in space or in the moon (1/2 page).
/ C = 50
  1. Survey at least 3 of your family members. Which of Newtons 3 laws do they think are the most important and why?(at least a 1 paragraph response for each person interviewed.)
  2. Create a superhero that uses forces and Newton’s Laws to solve problems. Draw a picture of your superhero and write a story about how your superhero has used the laws of physics to save the day. (1 page story with drawing).

D = 60
  1. Write a creative story that shows the use of the laws of physics. (1 page).
  2. Find an article from the newspaper and write about how it relates to the Laws of physics, forces, and motion. (1 page).
  3. Create a crossword puzzle or word search using at least 15 words. All words for crossword and word search must be answers to clues or questions.

E = 70

  1. Write a script for a play about forces and the laws of physics. Include cast, stage directions, settings, and narration. Act out the play in front of the class. The class should be able to guess the forces and Laws of Motion that are being acted out.
  2. Draw a scene showing at least 10 examples of life not following the Laws of physics and have a classmate try to find them all. List each of the examples on a separate sheet of paper.

F = 80

  1. Create a newspaper that uses the Laws of physics both in stories and advertising. (At least 3 stories and 2 ads). Must be in color.
  2. Research a career / profession and explain with examples how they use physics. (1 page, 2 sources with bibliography ).
  3. Create a game about the Laws of physics. Must include all necessary materials and instructions. Try it out with your table group.
