PERSON SPECIFICATION

Independent Sexual Violence Advocate (Maternity Cover)

Experience in:

o  The Criminal Justice System / Court Procedures

o  Working with women/survivors of sexual violence

o  Writing reports

o  Providing support to volunteers/staff

o  Assessments of clients

o  Maintaining Professional Boundaries

o  Working with local authorities, charities and the voluntary sector

o  Maintaining own administrative and record keeping systems

o  Using databases and Microsoft Office programmes

Education / Qualifications:

o  Educated to at least ‘A’ level standard

o  Legal background/ Counselling/Advocacy background preferred

o  ISVA qualification/ experience desirable but not essential

Knowledge:

o  Knowledge of rape and sexual abuse and an understanding of the complex issues involved

o  An intersectional understanding of gendered violence and the effects

o  Commitment to racial equality and equal opportunities

o  Understanding of the voluntary sector

o  Comprehensive awareness of Criminal Court proceedings and the legal system

Ability to:
