Achievements of WMC-II

  1. Consent has been issued to three Waste to Energy plant at Okhla, Ghazipur & Bawana respectively. These three Waste to Energy plants will solve the problem of disposal of Municipal Solid Waste. Timarpur Okhla Waste to Energy Plant is operational and other two are under installation. Details are as under:

  1. A Construction and Demolition waste plant of capacity 500 tonns per day has been installed by M/s IL & FS and is operational at Jahangirpuri for processing of constructional and Demolition waste in Delhi. Processed C & D material is used for tiles/pavement blocks and also ready mix concrete.
  2. 13 CETPs have been installed and are operational to treat the wastewater from industrial areas. No. of CETPs in1997 i.e. nil.
  3. STPs having capacity of 542 MGD are being operated by DJB which is higher than earlier. Capacity of STPs in 1997 was 284 MGD.
  4. Modernized Slaughter houses have come into operation and manual site closed down.
  5. Authorization has been issued to two compost plants i.e. M/s IL&FS Compost Plant at Okhla and M/s Delhi MSW Solutions Ltd., Narela Bawana Road of capacity 200 MTD & 1500 MTD respectively. APMC Tikri is not operational at present. Existing Compost plant at Bhalsawa is also operational.
  6. Thermal Power Plants in Delhi have been asked to meet standard of 50 mg/Nm3 for ParticulateMatter in their stack emission which is more stringent than the EPA standard of 150 mg/Nm3.
  7. IP Thermal Power station has closed its operations and Gas based power plants are being encouraged to come up in Delhi and Rajghat Power Station (Coal based) is planned to close down shortly.
  8. Consent to establish granted for Interceptor Sewer to trap the untreated water.
  9. Application for consent under Air Act & Water Act can be submitted on line and is mandatory w.e.f. 05.06.2012. The software is also user friendly and fee can also be deposited online.
  10. Monitoring and Assessment of CETPs, STPs and Thermal Power Plants are carried out on monthly basis.
