8TH GRADE POETRY PROJECT
Put together a poetry notebook in a three pronged folder or small three ring binder. You do not need to buy a new one. Recycle something you have at home. This notebook will illustrate all of the concepts we are learning in this unit. You can make it bare bones, or you can illustrate it and make it uniquely you. Please type and make it neat. Here’s how to set it up:

q All poems must state author, even if its your poem
q Create a title page for the project that includes your name.
Section 1: Narrative Poetry

q Mark the rhythm of the first four lines
q Mark the rhyme scheme of the entire poem. If it has stanzas, start over with the alphabet for each stanza.
q Choose a poem that includes a symbol. Underline, mark and explain the symbol
q Choose a poem that contains a metaphor. Underline and mark to identify the metaphor.

2. Write out the poem again in regular poetic form, and then:
