· use STOP to refuse a situation

Poster Guidelines:
· Students must choose a situation in which another person is trying to convince them to engage in a risky behavior.
· Students must use the HELP guidelines to evaluate the situation and make a decision
· Students must use the STOP guidelines to properly refuse the situation
· Students must get a parent/guardian's signature acknowledging that the parent/guardian approves the student's response
Poster must include:
Title
-title should explain the risky situation
List of possible risks of going along with the situation
-consider academic risks, social risks, physical risks, financial risks, mental/emotional risks, legal risks
-list at least three risks
Pictures/Drawings of possible risks
-pictures/drawings may show risks that you listed or risks that you wrote down in your answers to the "HELP" questions
HELP acronym
-next to each letter in "HELP" explain your answer to the corresponding question
Ex: H-This action is not healthy because there is a risk that I will get hurt. Also, I might fall behind in school because my injury will prevent me from attending school.

STOP acronym
-write the letters STOP
-next to each letter, write how you will respond using that letter
Ex: T (Tell why not)- I will tell my friend that smoking is bad for you and it can damage your lungs.

-draw a picture showing your response to the situation.
Parent/Guardian signature
Your parent must sign the corner of the poster acknowledging that they approve of your chosen response.
