The following learning skills will be evaluated and reported on the mid-semester and final report cards, however, they will not be used to determine the final grade:

Attendance & Test Policy: Students are expected to write unit tests on the day scheduled. If a student is going to be away because of a school trip/performance, arrangements with your teacher should be made prior to the test. If you are ill the day of a test, please have your parent call the teacher by 8:30 a.m. and leave a message on their voice mail stating that you are ill and will be missing the test. Students usually write the test on the first day back, unless other arrangements have been made with your teacher.

Textbook: ON Science 10 by McGraw-Hill Ryerson. Students will be charged for damaged or lost books.

Safety: Students are expected to wear safety goggles for all laboratory activities. If your child has any allergies or a health condition that may prevent him or her from participating in investigations/lab activities safely, please let the teacher know on the tear off below.

Homework Expectations: A grade 10 student should be spending an average of 30 minutes per night on Science homework. Homework includes assigned questions from the text, assignments/reports, studying for quizzes/tests, and reviewing material covered in class or organizing a notebook. The pace of instruction is very rapid in the semester system, therefore students must keep up their work on a daily basis.

Late Assignments: All assignments will have a set due date. Assignments will not be accepted after they have been evaluated and returned to the class.
