Programme Outline

Please come and meet Michael and Bubble (a cartoon character), the two presenters of this new series of pre-primary programmes. Michael and Bubble will learn new things and play some games with the children. Sunflower feels hot and dry. What does Sunflower want? There is no water in the fish tank, Fish is crying for help. What can we do? Where does a dolphin live? Where does a panda live? How about a shark? And a giraffe? Is a dolphin big or small? How about a starfish? Is it big or small? When do you wash and clean in a day? Please come and join us to find the answers. There are also songs for children to learn and enjoy in this programme.

Suggested Activities

1.  Introduce the characters of this programme: Michael, Bubble, Sunflower and Fish.

Teachers can use these pictures to introduce Sunflower and Fish.

2.  As a warm-up exercise, teachers can ask the children to think of the answers to these questions: “When you are thirsty, what would you like to have?” “Do you use water every day? When? What for?” “Where does a fish live?” “Where does a panda live?”

3.  Teachers can show the class some animals which live in water to arouse their interest.

4.  Introduce the title of the programme, “Water”.

5.  Tell the children the beginning of the story. Sunflower feels hot and dry. Guess what she wants. What can Michael do to help Sunflower?

6.  Explain Worksheets 1, 2 and 3 after watching the programme.

7.  The rhyme, “Rain, rain, go away. Little _____ wants to play.” can be sung as a follow-up activity. The children can use their own names in the rhyme.

8.  There is a game “Does a dolphin live in water?” Encourage the class to join in answering the questions while watching it. The questions of the game are attached here for teachers’ reference. After watching the programme, teachers can use them as a follow-up quiz or revision.
