Duties:

Engine Senior Firefighter (GS-0462- 4/5)

Minimum requirements for this position per IFPM are FFT1 and prior completion of S-290.

This is a primary firefighter position under the provisions of 5 USC8336 (c) and 5 USC 8412 (d).

Serve as a senior firefighter on a wildland fire engine performing fire suppression and/ or fuels management duties. Performs various aspects of wildland and prescribed fire operations including preparation, ignition, monitoring, holding, and mop-up.

Starting pump engine, priming pump, adjusting engine speed and pump valves, laying hose, and using appropriate nozzles and nozzle adjustment in effective use of water and additives. Operates a variety of motor vehicles to transport equipment, supplies, crew members, etc.

Other duties will include hazardous fuels reduction and work in support of other resource areas including, timber, recreation, and wildlife.

Engine Squad Leader / AFEO (GS-0462-6)

Minimum requirements for this position per IFPM are FFT1 and prior completion of S-290.

This is a primary firefighter position under the provisions of 5 USC8336 (c) and 5 USC 8412 (d).

This position serves as an assistant to the Engine Captain on a Type 6 engine. Responsibilities include direct supervision of three or more firefighters in the absence of the Engine Captain. The incumbent will direct others in operation and use of engine equipment, preparedness, fire prevention, wildland fire suppression, and prescribed fire implementation.

Operates a variety of motor vehicles to transport equipment, supplies, crew members, etc.

Other duties will include hazardous fuels reduction and work in support of other resource areas including, timber, recreation, and wildlife.
