Delegates will then have the opportunity to also visit Wingfield Primary in Kidbrooke Village where a new school build, adjacent to the current school, is underway. Wingfield is a small school of 250 children, rapidly increasing its roll. Ofsted inspected in June 2016 and has rated the school Outstanding in 3 out of 4 areas, with a Good grading overall.
Pupils said, 'Teachers make learning fun...we learn cooperatively....teachers are strict, but they make learning exciting'. The curriculum is enticing and embeds the school's values exceptionally well through topics and high-quality children's books.'
South Rise - ‘The Learner’ - Delegates will have the opportunity to visit 4 mini-sessions across the Primary age range from Reception to Y6 with a focus on how we are developing ‘Learning Entrepreneurs’ within our school.
Wingfield - Delegates will experience a hands-on session on ‘Leading curriculum innovation/backwards by design approach.’ They will also have a tour of the school and have the opportunity to see innovative approaches to teaching and learning in action. Brambles Primary Academy
Brambles Primary Academy is part of Tees Valley Education Trust. It is an academy for children aged between two and eleven. There are approximately 300 children on roll, including part time nursery places for 52 children. The academy is located in the community of Brambles Farm in East Middlesbrough.
At Brambles Primary Academy pupils have extremely positive attitudes to learning. They are very proud to be part of the school, and their excellent behaviour is underpinned by a rigorous and consistent reward system that is valued by all members of the school community. Behaviour management strategies are very effective. Thorough record keeping shows that behaviour continues to improve over time. Any rare instances of poor behaviour are dealt with proactively and effectively. Our children are ambassadors for good behaviour and personal and collective responsibility is actively encouraged.
Pennyman Primary Academy
Pennyman Primary Academy is an ‘a-typical primary’. It was originally created from an amalgamation of a special school (the Endeavour) and a mainstream school (Northlands) in 1995. Pennyman Primary Academy was judged to be ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted in July 2014.
Pennyman is recognised for its inclusive approach to provision across the curriculum. The academy approach to both English and maths ensures all children are taught with progression and challenge. Creative curriculum topics are planned to meet the needs of all children, differentiated appropriately to ensure access for all. Educational visits and experiences are a priority in the academy, with all children having the opportunity for a wider education experience every half term. The application of core skills is a ‘non-negotiable’ element to our creative curriculum, and one that has had a significant impact on standards.
Wednesday
5 April 2017 / Robin Hood Academy
BIRMINGHAM / Steve Taylor
Executive Headteacher
BOOKING:
Vicki Goodwin

0121 464 2187 / Abdul Chohan
Robin Hood Academy is a three form entry primary school that has a rich history of innovation and non-conformity within education which includes:
  • Teaching Mandarin from Nursery to Y6.
  • Innovating within ICT (developing a Raspberry Pi coding club, building rockets on 3D printers and our newly opened Innovation Hub which focuses on cutting edge technology).
  • Providing set time within each day for ‘independence time’ which is a unique learning experience that focuses on self-drive within pupils and allows parents to share in this process by opening the doors up to the school community.
  • Working with Birmingham Rep Theatre company to bring English to life.
At Robin Hood we embrace risk taking within the community and look at failure as a key stepping stone to success. We have many strengths and plenty of things we need to improve on and we are working relentlessly to constantly improve.
The focus of the Innovation and Impact day will be on risk taking and during the day we will endeavour to highlight key learning within the school that deviates from the educational norm and has allowed us to have impact in how we approach things. During the visit you will have the opportunity to see Mandarin being taught, explore our ICT strategy and see this in action along with a learning walk that will also highlight independence and our approach to building resilient learners. If there are other elements that people would like to see then, with enough notice, we will build these in too. The only thing we ask of you is that you are open to sharing ideas as we are always keen to learn from others.
