Dear Carrollton Families,

I want to take this opportunity to express how delighted I am to be the new principal of Carrollton Elementary School. I am genuinely honored to have been selected to join a school culture so focused on student achievement.

To give you a little of my background, I have been an educator for thirteen years. I started my teaching career in Las Vegas, NV where I taught fourth and fifth grade as well as GATE (Gifted and Talented). I was also a dean of students for two years before my family and I decided to move to Maryland to be closer to our extended family. For the last six years I have been an assistant principal in the Prince George’s County Public Schools. I served my first three years at G. James Gholson Middle School and my last three at Samuel P. Massie Academy. I am a graduate of Slippery Rock University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and NOVA Southeastern University with a master’s degree in Educational Administration and Leadership.

I believe that a quality education is crucial to a child’s success and a powerful way to make the world a better place.I am sure you agree that having a high quality education throughout elementary school will greatly impact a child’s life. I look forward to working with you, the school, and our community to ensure that your child is given the opportunity to reach his/her potential to become college bound and workforce ready.

I will meet with the staff this summer to learn more about the unique strengths, traditions, and practices of Carrollton Elementary School. These conversations are just the beginning aspects of creating a collaborative relationship and path for the school’s future.

I would also like to extend an invitation to you and your child to our upcoming “Ice Cream Social”, on Tuesday, July 31th. Please stop by any time between 5-7 pm. This informal gathering will allow us a chance to meet and get to know one another. I look forward to earning your trust, respect, and support.

Sincerely,

Brian Galbraith

Principal
