Judy Sagen, Director of Choral Activities at Eastview High School in Apple Valley, MN
received her undergraduate degrees in Music Education and Piano Performance from Drake University and her Masters Degree from the University of Minnesota.

In her 33rd year of music education, she has spent her entire career in the Apple
Valley-Eagan-Rosemount School District 196. She has previously taught at Valley Middle
School, Rosemount High School, and at Eagan High School.


Judy has been actively involved in both the American Choral Directors Association (ACDA) and Minnesota Music Education Association (MMEA). She has served as ACDA's R&S Chair for Women's Choirs, Metro-East Chair, and has been a presenter at many state conventions. She also held the position of MMEA's Vocal Vice-President for 2 years and was in charge of All State Choirs. In the summer of 2002 she worked as co-head coordinator of all volunteers forthe World Choral Symposium. She is the current President of Minnesota ACDA.
Judy’s Concert Choirs and Women's Choirs have been featured performers at both ACDA and MMEA State Conventions. In March 2003, the Eastview High School Concert Choir was one of three choirs selected for the North Star Choral Festival in New York City and performed the Mozart Vesperae Solennes de Confessore with the New York City Chamber Orchestra at Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. In 2001 they were one of five high school choirs to perform with the Minnesota Orchestra under the baton of Eiji Oue performing the “Chichester Psalms” by Leonard Bernstein. Judy’s Women’s Chorale was also selected to perform with The Minnesota Chorale in a special project entitled "The Many Faces of Women" at O'Shaughnessy Auditorium. Her choirs have performed at the Dorian Vocal and Choral Festival, the St. Olaf Choral Festival, and the Anne Bancroft Awards. In addition, her concert choirs have joined sister schools in District 196 and toured Europe, The British Isles, and The Czech Republic. The Eastview High School Concert Choir was one of 6 high school choirs selected to perform with worldly renowned Chanticleer in a festival-concert in The Twin Cities in March of 06.


Judy is actively involved as a clinician and adjudicator around the state of Minnesota. She is recognized in Who's Who of American Teachers, Who’s Who of American Women, and is the recipient of The Christopher Randall Award given to an outstanding teacher in District 196. She was named the “2003-04 Minnesota Choral Director of The Year” by the Minnesota American Choral Director’s Association.
For three years Judy has served as coordinator for Apple Valley, Eagan and Rosemount community’s "Sing for the Cure", a music event which serves as a “kick-off” for the Relay for Life supporting The American Cancer Society. She is also the Musical Director for the Eagan Community Theater summer productions.
