Principal's Award

Presented to the graduating student who, in the judgement of the principal (in consultation with the staff), has exhibited unique qualities of leadership, determination, integrity, and unselfish participation both in the academic and extra-curricular setting, and whose contributions to The Woodlands School have enriched the quality of school life.

Additional emphasis: the student must be back at The Woodlands, at a higher school, or at work; emphasis is on leadership; student does not have to be an “A” student, but should be working well.

The recipient will have his/her name engraved on a trophy, will receive a plaque, and a cheque for $100.00.

Principals' Council Award

Presented to the graduating student who, in the judgement of the administrative team, has exhibited unique qualities and leadership, integrity, and unselfish participation in The Woodlands School community. By maintaining an honours standing, the student also exemplifies the academic excellence of our school.

The recipient will have his/her name engraved on a trophy, will receive a plaque, and a cheque for $100.

Denise Williams Memorial Award

This award was created in memory of a former Woodlands student. This award is presented to the graduating student who, if given the opportunity and financial assistance, would proceed to a post-secondary institution in the area of health/life sciences or nursing.

The recipient will receive an award from this trust fund.

Library Resource Centre Award

Presented to one male and one female grade 12 graduating student who has shown a positive attitude and demonstrated good citizenship in the Library as a volunteer. This student has been recognized as being an outstanding volunteer in the Library. This award is to be presented to a graduating student who would most benefit from financial assistance.

The recipients of this award will receive a cheque for $100.00

The Woodlands School

The Fred and Mary Stiby Memorial Scholarship

This award will be presented to two students, one male and one female, who have demonstrated exemplary service to others, and the following traits: Dedication, loyalty, leadership, and positive character. The student is not a recipient of other awards, and therefore is an especially deserving individual.

The recipient of the Fred and Mary Stiby Scholarship will receive a School Trophy, a keeper Plaque, and a cheque created from the scholarship funds.

The Aileen Clark-Lambie Award

This award has been donated in memory of a former Woodlands graduate. This award will be presented to a young woman who upon graduating who has demonstrated involvement, leadership and citizenship in The Prefects, and/or Outdoor Education and other community organizations. She must be continuing her education in a post-secondary program within the fields of science or technology. She must also demonstrate financial need.

This recipient of this award will receive a cheque from the Clark family.

The Gareth David Havard Memorial Award

This award is in memory of Gareth David Havard, a former Woodlands student. This award will be presented to a graduating student who has graduated with Honours and will be pursuing engineering at the University of Waterloo in a Co-op program. Preference is based on demonstrated financial need.

The recipient of this award will receive a cheque in the amount of $5000.00

The Music Legacy Award

Donated by a former Woodlands student, this award will be presented to a student who has made an exceptional contribution to the Music program at The Woodlands School within a minimum of the last two years. Preference given to Music students although consideration given for students who have contributed greatly to the performing arts at The Woodlands School.

The recipient of this award will receive a cheque in the amount of $250.00

The VOICE Legacy Award

This award will be presented to a student who has attended The Woodlands both as an Elementary and Secondary Student and who has been accepted to a post-secondary institution in the Fall. This student will demonstrate strong citizenship and academic responsibility throughout their time at The Woodlands School.

The recipient of this award will receive a cheque based on funds raised by VOICE and the students of The Woodlands School.

The Lieutenant Governor’s Community Volunteer Award

This award is presented to a graduating student who demonstrates exemplary community service or outstanding volunteerism.

The recipient of this award will receive a certificate and pin from the office of the Lieutenant Governor of Ontario.

The Governor General’s Award

This award, from the Chancellery of Honours is presented on the basis of academic achievement only. The award is based on achieving the highest average including all Grade 11 courses and all Grade 12 courses.
