A RESOLUTION adjourning the House of Representatives this day in loving memory and honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook Tragedy.
WHEREAS, four weeks ago today on December 14, 2012, a horrific and unspeakable tragedy occurred at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut; and
WHEREAS, on that cold, still, wintery New England morning, 27 innocent lives were senselessly lost; and
WHEREAS, those tragically lost included seven women who were mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, and friends; and
WHEREAS, 20 of the innocent victims of the Sandy Hook Tragedy were first-grade students at Sandy Hook Elementary School, including 16 six-year-old children and four seven-year-old children; and all were beautiful, vibrant, life-filled souls who were beloved sons, daughters, brothers, sisters, grandchildren, and friends; and
WHEREAS, the senseless loss of these 27 lives has left a void that cannot be filled, and these individuals are mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE,
Be it resolved by the House of Representatives of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:
âSection 1. The House of Representatives does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow as it solemnly recognizes and honors the victims of the Sandy Hook Tragedy, and extends to the families of the victims and to the entire community of Newtown, Connecticut its most heartfelt sympathy.
âSection 2. When the House of Representatives adjourns this day it does so in loving memory and honor of the victims of the Sandy Hook Tragedy.
âSection 3. The Clerk of the House of Representatives is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Principal Donna Page, Sandy Hook Elementary School, 12 Dickinson Drive, Sandy Hook, CT 06482.
