of Scranton invite you to The First Interamerican
Counseling Congress that will be held from November
17-19 of 2004 in Mexico City. Participants from
Mexico, United States, Canada and Latin America, will
be presenting diverse and actualized themes.

PROPOSALS
All proposals should include: a cover sheet, an
abstract (50 to 100 words) in MS Word. The
formats available are presentations, symposia,
workshop sessions, and posters. Proposals for all
formats should be received by June 30, 2004 to be
considered. Proposals should be sent via email as
separate MS Word or RTF attachments. The main
presenter/contact person will be notified by August
15, 2004.
Proposals from graduate students are encouraged.

A cover sheet should accompany each submission,
indicating the type of program (format). If you are
submitting more than one type of program, please
complete a separatecover sheet for each type of program.
Below is the information that should be included
in all cover sheets.

MODALITIES
PRESENTATION
Presentations will be offered by invitation of
distinguished psychologists and mental health
professionals on high interest themes because
of the novelty they imply. These conferences
should last an hour.
SYMPOSIA
Symposia aim at presenting a forum for
the presentation of multiple and related
research studies or experiences in order to
present a broader context for discussion
through panel presentation.
WORKSHOP SESSIONS
Workshop Sessions aim at creating an
environment for focused discussion and
other forms of interactive sharing of ideas.
Workshop Sessions and Symposia will be
scheduled for 90 minutes slots.
POSTER SESSIONS
Graphic exhibits of the research results that
will allow direct exchange of ideas between
the author and the attendants. All poster
proposals addressing issues related to
Counseling in the Americas will be
considered. Graduate students are encouraged to submit proposals.
LANGUAGES
The proposals can be submitted in
Spanish or English.

Passport and Visa: People traveling from the United States just need an official ID, NO visa and NO passport. People traveling from Brasil need a passport but NO visa. People traveling from Argentina DO need visa and passport. Cuba Chile???
Weather: November in Mexico is the beginning of winter and its starts to get cold, specially in the Universities Campus, so be prepared and wear warm clothes.
Currency Exchange: Mexico’s currency is called peso. It’s value changes every day, but its usual average is around 10 pesos = 1 USD. However, exchange centers can be found in the airport, most hotels, large shopping centers and inside the University Campus.
