Guidance is currently in the process of finalizing courses for the 2015 – 2016 academic school year. We would like to engage you in a collaborative process of assisting your child in making appropriate elective choices for the upcoming year.
As a sixth grader, your child will participate in (4) semester long electives. Please review the list of offerings and rank order your top (4) preferences 1-4.choose your top 4 preferences, with 1 being first choice. E eEvery effort will be made to give your child theirhis or her preferred choices. All formsrequests will be considered on a first come, first serve basis.
NOTE: Please note which electives are semester courses and which are year-long. Students in Pre AP will have to be consistent with the foreign language (are encouraged to take the same language in 7th and 8th grade) in order to receive two rigor points on high school applications for Maggie Walker, IB and Appomattox Regional Governor’s School. Foreign languages I, II, and III will receive one high school credit.

Please select four (4) courses and rank them by priority from 1-4, with 1 being your top choice and so forth. EEvery effort will be made to honorgive you at least one of your requests; all forms will be considered on a first come, first serve basis.
NOTE: Electives will be taken for one semester unless specified otherwise. Students in academic core will have to be consistent with the foreign language (take the same language in 7th and 8th grade) in order to receive two rigor points on high school applications for Maggie Walker, IB and Appomattox Regional Governor’s School. 09A or 10A course work will automatically receive one high school credit per course.
