RESPONSIBLE TOCST Project Manager

PURPOSE OF POST

  • Create a culture shift in attitudes and behaviours towards sport and physical activity where regular exercise is considered a way of life
  • Utilise a place based approach, engaging with the key elements of a community system; place, people and partners
  • Engage and connectthe local system to embed physical activity within targeted communities
  • Develop partnerships with physical activity deliverers, local service providers and health agencies to increase participation in physical activity
  • Facilitate sustainable local provision, based on overcoming barriers and generating demand to regular physical activity
  • Create and implement a local community vision to increase physical activity and support people to become activators within their own communities
  • Monitor and evaluate the progress and success of the project

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Collect and interpret localinsight to understand the local communities and identify potential engagement groups
  1. Engage and connect the local community system and service providersto assist in the promotion, development and participation of physical activity within the targeted communities
  1. Develop techniques and methods to access potential participants and increase capacity within the targeted communities
  1. Develop partnerships with organisations and agencies who can assist with accessing potential participants, overcoming barriers to engagement and delivering physical activity opportunities
  1. Identify potential community activators to create and implement a community vision that increases physical activity
  1. Facilitate and support communities to overcome potential barriers to physical activity engagement, such as access to funding and resources, environmental improvements and individual blockages
  1. Facilitate and support communities to co-ordinate new physical activity opportunities for themselves, with the development of sustainable sessions and groups as a primary aim
  1. Identify and work with local leaders, coaches and volunteers to deliver sustainable and informal physical activity sessions, groups and events
  1. Develop and implement a local communications plan to raise awareness of the physical activity opportunities, using national and local campaigns to motivate and inspire engagement
  1. Monitor and evaluate the success of the project and provide quarterly reports to the Project Manager
  1. Ensure the welfare, health and safety of participants at activities, and support local volunteers with health, safety, risk assessments, child protection and other matters
  1. Comply with relevant health and safety legislation, policies and procedures in the performance of the duties of the post
  1. Maintain confidentiality and observe data protection and associated guidelines where appropriate
  1. Take positive steps to identify and overcome barriers to participation amongst young people, older people, women, people from BME groups and disabled people, prioritising access and inclusion.
  1. Be prepared to occasionally carry out work during evening and weekend periods.
  1. Act as an ambassador for the Community Sports Trust, host organisation and partners, through your conduct and community relationships.
  1. Be prepared to undertake ongoing training and personal development, to enhance skills and abilities for the post.
  1. Undertake any other duties associated with the post.

The duties of any post will vary over time as services, and the environment in which they are delivered, develop and change. This does not necessarily change the general character of the duties or the level of responsibility involved. The annual review meeting with their manager gives each employee the opportunity to discuss and review their job description and to ensure it is up-to-date and reflects current job content and context.

Terms of Employment

This post is subject to successful completion of an enhanced DBS check, medical clearance and references.

Place of Employment

Bolsover. This is the normal place of employment for this post. However, in order to deliver quality services, this may need to be varied from time to time and you may be required to work at any other place within the District, and to attend meetings at other venues around the County.

HOURS: 18.5pw. The role will require occasional evening and weekend work.
