“Blast” Through the Pain of Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
New Therapeutic Laser Treatment Now Available
Redwood City (November 14, 2002) New relief is in sight for an estimated 200,000 Americans who are suffering from the most frequently reported workplace injury. With the costs of carpal tunnel syndrome cases reaching upwards of $25,000 when lost time and medical costs are considered, an effective treatment would be a windfall to both workers and their employers.
Dr. Paul R. Piccione, a Redwood City Chiropractor, is the first doctor in the area to utilize the first therapeutic laser to be approved for use in the treatment of carpal tunnel syndrome. “Studies show that while the traditional medical approach is somewhat effective in treating people with carpal tunnel syndrome, less than 20% of them experience long-term relief,” says Dr. Piccione. “The therapeutic laser gives us an incredible tool to combat the pain and inflammation of the structures that are causing the carpal tunnel syndrome symptoms, without surgery or medications. Unlike other lasers that are used surgically this type of laser does not cut tissue, therefore the procedure is painless.”
This is the same laser that helped propel Lance Armstrong to his record setting fifth
Tour de France win recently. This therapeutic laser was an integral part of the treatment that Lance received almost daily by the US Postal Service Team’s Chiropractor, to combat the pain and inflammation he developed during this grueling race.
Dr. Piccione has had extensive training treating people with carpal tunnel syndrome. He is a magna cum laude graduate of the Palmer College of Chiropractic West, and is the immediate past president of the San Mateo District of the California Chiropractic Association.
