2. Broadband Developments and experiences with technicians so far.
Kit is being installed in Dorchester schools quite soon. Most schools have had technician visit and a blue sticker has been fixed near comms cabinet for location of new kit. Some technicians asked for additional electric sockets. Some technicians were not the named personnel. Broadmayne order had gone completely astray but is now back on line.

ACTION

BD to email Elizabeth McEleney to report experiences of DASP schools.

FROG

THS and the Middle Schools are now buying into FROG. Discussion as to what First Schools are using. There is a variety of VLEs and skills in this area. Most thought that in the future a single VLE with a single log on for children throughout their time in DASP would be a good idea. Maybe we are not yet at this stage. Changing to FROG for some schools would involve re doing a lot of material in the short term and re-learning a new system. Still more to learn and discuss.

CDG Action plan.

The Action group is meeting on Thu 29th Mar at DMS to work on the CDG Action Plan. Much of this work will centre on ensuring continuity of ICT skills and programs between First and Middle schools and to develop the range of ICT skills in First schools.

Dorset ICT Conference

Gary gave some information about the forthcoming Dorset ICT Conference to be held at the Dorford Baptist Church in Dorchester and where he is a keynote speaker. The date is yet to be fixed. He asks that colleagues share any information and particularly videos which demonstrate examples of the positive use of technology by young children, both at home and in school.
