I am pleased to offer you a Graduate Teaching Assistantship in INSERT NAME OF THE UNIVESITY DEPARTMENT, OFFICE/UNIT, CENTER, GRANT, OR INDIVIDUAL FACULTY/RESEARCHER’S NAMEfor the academic year of 2016-2017. These appointments are awarded to graduate students with exceptional credentials and in whom the graduate faculty have great confidence. You are to be commended for your selection.

As a graduate teaching assistant, you will be required to work10 hours per week(generally the equivalent of teaching one lower-division lecture class) beginning on August 17, 2016 and continuing through the Fall semester until December 16, 2016; and, in the Spring semester, beginning on January 9, 2017 through May 12, 2017. Classes begin in the Fall semester on August 22, 2016 and, in Spring semester, on January 11, 2017.Your primary duties as a teaching assistant will consist of direct involvement in classroom or laboratory instruction, and are specified further in the attached job description. Your supervisor will be Professor - INSERT SUPERVISOR NAME -, who is responsible for directing you in your formal assignment and duties. All graduate teaching assistantship awards are contingent upon registration as a fulltime graduate student for the duration of your appointment, good academic standing, and satisfactory completion of assistantship duties. Should you choose to resign, or if you are discharged, from your assistantship, the cost of the assistantship benefits (e.g., tuition, fee, and health insurance waivers) will be prorated to the date of resignation/discharge and forfeited for the remainder of the award period identified above. You will be held responsible for the remaining cost of these benefits, which will be posted to your student account.
