FIRST TERM PROJECT SPANISH 1 MR. POWELL

REQUIRED PROJECT:

VOCABULARY JOURNALS: One journal each week, from Aug. 28 – Oct. 13

Not required for the week of Fall Break – you can do one for bonus points. You may also do a vocab. journal entry on school holidays for extra points.

There will be no vocabulary journal for the last week of the term.

Select one Spanish vocabulary word each day from the list assigned for that week, and define it. Draw a picture representing the word and write a sentence about the picture. You can use English for the words you don’t know in Spanish, but use Spanish for the vocabulary word and any other words that you know.

Maximum Possible: 5 per day plus bonus points for exceptional work.

170 points required: 200 points possible counting the extra days, plus bonus points.

DUE EVERY TUESDAY - FOR THE PREVIOUS WEEK.

NO VOCABULARY JOURNALS FOR FIRST TERM WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER OCTOBER 18!

EXTRA CREDIT PROJECTS:

1. WATCH A SPANISH TV CHANNEL AND / OR LISTEN TO A SPANISH RADIO STATION

Select from different types of programs, with parental consent;

1 to 3 sessions during the month, at least 1/2 hour each.

Fill out report on a separate form that you need to get from Mr. Powell.

2. INTERVIEW A NATIVE SPANISH SPEAKER

(an adult from a Spanish-speaking country who is not in your immediate family)

Fill out report on a separate form that you need to get from Mr. Powell.

Include details about where the person is from, what life is like in

that country compared to here, how and when the person came to the U.S.,

how many languages the person speaks and how well he/she is able to speak them, the individual's family, and how much contact the person has with other Spanish speakers. Include the name, address, phone number, and signature of the person you interview.

Maximum Possible: 30 pts. DUE OCTOBER 13
