Report to: Staff Team Manager.

Salary: Between £17,550 - £18,525 pro rata depending on experience. Reviewed after 6 month probationary period.

Hours of work:(1) Full time 37.5 hours per week (2) Part time in the region of 15 - 22.5 hours per week.

Upward Mobility is a registered Scottish charity working in Edinburgh and the Lothian’s providing innovative, educational workshops and personalised support for people with learning and other complex disabilities. Our goal is to promote the self-confidence and social welfare of our students through assistance to engage with meaningful and progressive educational activities, aiding their development of practical, social and life skills and their ability and confidence to participate more fully in society.

Post Overview:

Allocating staff to student shifts effectively and to deadline, as directed by the Staff Team Manager. Promote and ensure effective communication of daily information between members of staff and the Staff Team Manager either in person, or by telephone/email. When necessary, inform Students/Parents/Carers of any changes to the schedule.

Responsibilities:

  • To liaise effectively with Parents/Carers and Upward Mobility colleagues to ensure a thorough understanding of daily changes and to communicate these changes and relevant outcomes to staff/management.
  • To maintain an accurate support schedule, within a specified time period, which accurately reflects staff availability, annual leave, agreed administrational hours and demands on workshops/student ratios.
  • To inform staff and management of changes to the support schedule within a realistic time frame and seek approval from Management in regards to any contractual changes.
  • To communicate effectively with external agencies.
  • Competence in IT–rostering systems, Outlook and any other applications necessary for the role.
  • To ensure the upkeep and accuracy of staff annual leave. Monitor annual leave to ensure required level of staff maintained at all times.
  • To update spreadsheets and other necessary paperwork.
  • To keep an accurate record of student holidays and agreed time off, and to ensure this information is effectively communicated to relevant staff/management and recorded on rostering system.
  • To ensure the Communication Diary used by staff and management is up-to-date and accurately reflects daily information.
  • To liaise with the Curriculum Manager on a weekly basis and ensure the Workshop Capacity Document is updated.
  • To liaise with Team Leaders and Sessional Student Extras to ensure the communication of any changes to schedule during workshop hours.
  • To liaise with members of the operational team in relation to dates for training and the scheduling of new students.
  • To meet with and communicate efficiently with the Staff Team Manager to assist in the scheduling of staff Supervisions, Appraisals and Training.
  • To facilitate On-call when required and as documented in contract/policies.
  • A requirement to provide support to Students when required is a necessary component of the role.
