Carol A. Taber is a seasoned business executive, with 30 years experience in leadership positions for diverse communicationscompanies at various stages of maturity. Taber has broad experience in start-up, turnaround and repositioning projects as well as management of successful ongoing operations. She has delivered a consistent, extraordinary record of increasing revenues and profit, opening new markets and revenue streams, and developing new lines of affinity businesses and multi-media opportunities.

Beginning her career in magazine publishing at the 100-year-old Ladies Home Journal where she was the first woman to be promoted to line management overseeing sales and marketing, Ms. Taber was the second woman in the country to be named to the publisher’s position at a major national magazine, Working Woman. Responsible for profit performance and building brand value, Taber reported to the Chairman while managing a staff of 80. Under her leadershipthe magazine achieved a 64-fold revenue increase, with profit margins three times the industry average. With all incoming and outgoing revenue streams answering to Taber - incorporating circulation, production, advertising sales, marketing, research, promotion, public relations and finance – the magazine continued to be the fastest growing U.S. magazine for the next five consecutive years.

Taber was appointed to Group Publisher, with increased responsibilities to include Success and Working Mother magazines. While there, she led the teams that created and executed the strategies that resulted in extraordinary growth in revenues and profit, and increased subscription and newsstand sales for all three magazines whose revenues totaled $65 million. Two years later, Taber was promoted to Executive Vice President of the parent company where her duties expanded to include membership on the Operations Committee for the seven-title parent corporation. During her tenure, Taber was a major contributor to fueling the growth of the company, whose corporate revenues increased from $500,000 to over $100 million in five years.

Recently, as a direct result of 9/11 and Taber’s expertise in the women’s market, she foundedThe Family Security Foundation, Inc., (FSF) whose web site is FamilySecurityMatters.org (FSM). FSM’s mission is to educate and inform Americans, particularly women, about all issues related to national security. By building a more vibrant and educated electorate, her goal is to strengthen American democracy by increasing the civic spirit and political literacy of our nation’s largest voting bloc. Additionally, FSM believes that their mothers’ examples will have the long-term effect of increasing civic and political involvement in American girls and young women.

After FSM’s website launch in September 2004, within one year Taber – along with FSM’s experts and executives - appeared on hundreds of media interviews for national radio and television audiences totaling over 60 million people, and their OpEds were read in major market newspapers around the country. Featured daily in Townhall.com, GoogleNews, Yahoo, Microsoft Network, various news organizations plus over a hundredother websites and blogs, the site - now authored by 60 nationally known, expert Contributing Editors - enjoys 10 million hits monthly and FSM’s readers now hail from nearly 100 countries.

Because of FamilySecurityMatters.org, Ms. Taber was selected by the NationalCenter for Policy Analysis’s profile of “The Woman of the Month,” an initiative of the Center’s “Women in the Economy” project that explores the choices women make and how public policies impact those decisions. The award cites the nominated woman’s unique contributions to the economy, public policy and society as a whole.

Taber serves on the Advisory Board for the Future Terrorism Project at the Foundation for the Defense of Democracies, and she served on the New Jersey Board of Directors of the International Women’s Forum, a member organization providing women of extraordinary achievement an opportunity to network globally with other such women.
