Applicants meeting all those academic requirements will be invited to an interview.

On-site interviews will be held on September 14 and September 15, 2011, at the premises of the Faculty of Political Science, Seminar room.

Candidates lacking the requirement concerning the English language will have to take an entrance test of English, that will be held on September 14, 2011, at 9 am, at the Faculty of Political Science, Via Conservatorio 7, Milan, room 2.

Candidates lacking the requirement concerning Mathematics and Quantative methods will have to attend a pre-course and to pass the final examination.

As an alternative to the on-site interview and test of English, applicants from outside Lombardy can apply for a telematic interview.

  • All candidates holding a three-year bachelor’s or higher degree awarded by an Italian University must apply from July 15 to September 12, 2011
  • EU applicants with a foreign qualification residing abroad must apply from March 21 to September 12, 2011
  • Non-EU applicants with a foreign qualification residing abroad must apply from March21 to June 15, 2011

TWO-YEAR MASTER’SPROGRAM

in

ECONOMICS

AND POLITICAL SCIENCE

Overview

The two-year master’s degree in Economics and Political Science (EPS) at University of Milan provides a highly qualified interdisciplinary learning track. Taught entirely in English, EPS is a master program integrating advanced analytical tools in Economics, Political sciences and Quantative methods.

The EPS degree is a genuinely multidisciplinary programme, presenting a balanced offer of courses in economics and political science, introduced by a few supplementary courses in mathematics, game theory and quantitative and qualitative research methods.

Students in EPS will acquire a deep knowledge of the major international economic policy issues and will be trained to become key players and decision makers in global businesses, international organization and government agencies.

The EPS course offers exchange programmes with several universities and a joint-degree in cooperation with Univeristè Catholique de Louvain and Facultès Univeritaries Notre Dame de la Paix, Namur.

Students must earn 120 ECTS credits to complete programme requirements. Among them, 33 credits are dedicated to additional educational and research activities, such as dissertation writing, research seminars and elective courses.

Entry requirements

This programme is intended for top level international students a strong interest in economics, political science or related subjects.

About 40 students are expected to enrol each year.

Admission is based on academic excellence.

Applicants must have:

  • a bachelor’s degree or equivalent preferably in economics, political science or related subjects
  • undertaken at least a 6 ECTS credits in Mathematics and Quantitative methods (a 40 hrs pre-course in quantitative methods will be offered to candidates lacking this requirement)
  • good knowledge of spoken and written English

More specifically:

1. Applicants who obtained their bachelor’s degrees from Italian Universities are eligible for admission if they hold a “laurea” degree belonging to any one of the “classi di laurea” (bachelor’s degree classes) posted on the EPS website. They must also have earned at least 60 ECTS credits within the set of admissible “settori scientifico-disciplinari” (disciplinary scientific sectors) posted on EPS website.

2. Applicants who completed their undergraduate studies in foreign Universities are eligible for admission if they hold a bachelor’s degree in economics, political science, or other broadly related subjects, which may be regarded as equivalent to one of the Italian “laurea” degrees posted on the EPS website. They must also have earned at least 60 ECTS credits or equivalent in the following fields: business administration, computer science, economics, law, management, mathematics, philosophy, political science, sociology or statistics. The ECTS credit value of foreign applicants’ undergraduate studies will be assessed by the EPS admissions committee.

3. Non-native speakers of English must be able to demonstrate their knowledge of English either by showing they have at least one year of university studies at institutions where the language of instruction is English, or by possessing one of the certificates indicated on EPS website.
