A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD Onstage at Montalvo
True-blue (or green) friendship comes to life May 15

SARATOGA, Calif.—Montalvo Arts Center concludes its 2010–11 Family Performing Arts Series on Sunday, May 15, with A YEAR WITH FROG AND TOAD, based on the Caldecott Honor-winning series of children’s books by Arnold Lobel. The heart-warming production from Bay Area Children’s Theatre takes place at 1 and 3 p.m. in Montalvo’s Carriage House Theatre.

Nominated for three Tony awards, including “Best Musical,” FROG AND TOAD’s book and lyrics are by Robert and Willie Reale, with music by Robert Reale. As outgoing Frog and reserved Toad hop through a year of enchanting adventures, their genuine care for each other makes them two of the finest amphibious role models around. Young audiences (best for ages 4–9) will chuckle with Frog as they watch Toad's silly exploits and enjoy delightful songs such as “Eating Cookies” and “Toad Looks Silly in a Bathing Suit.” As the months fly by onstage, families can experience together what it’s like to have a true-blue (or green) best friend.

Montalvo’s annual Family Performing Arts Series invites children and their parents to experience diverse and stimulating performances and meet nationally and internationally acclaimed artists. Titles this past season have ranged from quality contemporary productions to programs based on award-winning children’s literature, as well as performances of music, dance, mime, puppetry, drama and more.
