Professor Keith Hill - Head of School of Physiotherapy and Exercise Science, Faculty of Health Sciences Curtin University
Keith is a physiotherapist and an experienced researcher in a range of areas associated with ageing, across community, residential care and hospital settings. His main research interests include falls prevention, exercise, and rehabilitation for older people.
Claudia Meyer - NARI Melbourne University
Building on an extensive physiotherapy background in aged care and rehabilitation, plus research project work through the National Ageing Research Institute, Claudia is currently undertaking a PhD at Latrobe University. Her project is titled: “translating falls prevention knowledge for community-dwelling people living with dementia and their caregivers: What works?”
Plaiwan Suttanon - Mahidol University, Thailand
Plaiwan received her Bachelor and Master of Science (Physiotherapy) and has worked as a lecturer and clinical instructor at Thammasat University, Thailand since 2002. Her research interest is in the area of balance exercise, falls prevention in older people and people with dementia.
Beckea Jones– Aged & Disability Services Officer Latrobe City Council
Beckea’s background is in nursing and has worked in the community setting since graduating from Monash Gippsland in 2009. Beckea has spent the past 4 years working in her current role and is passionate about assisting people to remain in their own home.
Carole Malone -Aged & Disability Services Officer Latrobe City Council
Carol has been 20 years’ experience with Latrobe City’s Aged & Disability Services in a variety of roles and has completed a Vocational Graduate Certificate in Case Management and Care Planning. She has been a proactive participant in all facets of ‘Change’ in the Aged and Disability Services. Carole supports and appreciates the respect and dignity of people, that they have the right of choices and the philosophy of the ASM approach to ageing, not Ageism.
Nicole Tierney (BSc OT) - LRH OT Manager
Nicole was previously the senior clinician/coordinator of LRH’s Falls and Balance Clinic and has had ten years’ experience in working in the specialty field of falls prevention.
Audra Fenton – Community Health Manager/Program Lead (Nurse Consultant CDAMS), West Gippsland Healthcare Group
Audra is a registered general nurse and credentialed mental health practitioner with over 20 years’ experience and has expertise in working with aged clients with a mental illness or cognitive disorder. She has held senior management roles both here and in the UK and has completed a Masters and associate degree focused on mental health and clinician education. Completing a PHD is a future consideration. Audra is a peer reviewer for the Australian College of Mental Health Nurses. Audra has a certification in general counselling and cognitive behaviour therapy (CBT). She has found that with work and patience CBT can be adapted to meet the needs of people with dementia and a co-existing mood disorder.
Annette Davey- Counsellor Alzheimer’sAustralia, Victoria
Annette previously role was as a Clinical Coordinator of Alzheimer's Australia Tasmania,and as part of that role helped to establish the falls prevention policy and planfor The Department of Human Services in Tasmania.
