UPDATE ON CALLS AND FACULTY

This past week Mr. Tyler Schoen decided to remain at Garden Homes and returned the call to teach at Wisconsin Lutheran High School. We are blessed to have him continue his teaching ministry at Garden Homes! This Friday Mrs. Van Sice, our second grade teacher, will learn where her husband will be called to serve as a pastor. This means she will not be returning as the second grade teacher next school year. We ask for God’s blessings as Mrs. Van Sice and her husband, Mr. Doug Van Sice, transition into a new ministry field. Next year our second grade teacher will be Meghan Niemann, who graduated from Marquette University this past spring. Last school year she student taught for one semester in our fourth grade classroom. GHLS is excited to welcome Ms. Niemann to the Garden Homes family. Finally, Pastor Mattek is still holding his call to Divine Savior in Doral, Florida. Please continue to keep Pastor and his family in your prayers as they deliberate the call.

Students will not be allowed to the leave the Honors Bash prior to 8:00 pm unless their parent/guardian signs them out of the event. At the this event students will enjoy snacks, raffles, games, a DJ and dancing. The event will be chaperoned by GHLS faculty. Invitations were sent home on Monday to notify the student if they will be receiving an award and/or can attend the Honors Bash. This is a fun night to highlight and recognize the effort that students invested during the school year.

POPTOP FUNDRAISER WRAPS UP

The Ronald McDonald House pop top resulted in collecting 11.5 lbs of pop tops. If you estimate the weight of one pop top at .3 grams that brings the total number to about 17,500 pop tops. VERY impressive G-House! Thanks to everyone who took time to collect and turn in the pop tops. May 22nd is the official pop top collection day for the Ronald McDonald House. If you have continued to collect pop tops, make sure to drop them off at the Ronald McDonald House (8948 W Watertown Plank Rd, Milwaukee, WI 53226).

CLIMBING MAP MOUNTAIN

During the spring MAP tests, students are tracking the amount of tests that they meet their growth goal and/or meet the national RIT score. Each time they meet one of these goals, they color a flag and place it on MAP mountain. For each consecutive test that they meet their growth goal or national RIT score, students climb one level higher toward the peak. (MAP mountain pictured to the right)
