PROCUREMENT PLAN FOR CONTRACTS UNDER EMERGENCY OPERATIONS
Background:
The Government of the Republic of Kenya has requested for an Additional Credit in the amount of US$95 million equivalent to support the Kenya Transport Sector Support Project (KTSSP) Cr. 4926-KE to: (a) finance new activities related to emergency restoration of the facilities destroyed by a fire at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), which has disrupted operations at the busiest airport hub in East Africa; (b) finance the costs associated with completing the original project activities for which the Government of Kenya (GoK) is not able to raise counterpart funding; and (c) meet part of the financing gap in the amount of co-financing anticipated at the time of appraisal of the project
The proposed Additional Credit of US$95 million includes US$60 million toward restoring the operations at JKIA on an emergency basis.
