Outreach Coordinator
About Us:
The Hospitality Workers Training Centre is a non-profit workforce development organization dedicated to developing collaborative training solutions that benefit both employers and workers in Toronto’s hospitality industry. We work closely with employers to understand the skill and competency requirements for their entry-level, in-demand positions and provide training to individuals who experience barriers to employment to meet these workforce needs. We also provide training to incumbent hospitality workers to support their career advancement within the sector.
About the Opportunity:
The Outreach Coordinator is part of a team responsible for the recruitment of unemployed candidates for HWTC’s vocational job training opportunities. This individual will be responsible for developing and maintaining the strategic networks and partnerships that will ensure a steady pipeline of program candidates.
The Outreach Coordinator will support the development and implementation of an engagement strategy and undertake community outreach activities that will educate and engage community stakeholders to support referrals and access to clients.
The Outreach Coordinator’s duties will include:
- Developing, implementing and evaluating targeted strategies to engage targeted populations for program enrollment.
- Cultivating and maintainingstrategic partnerships with community agencies and other stakeholders to support HWTC’s recruitment strategy and referral agreements.
- Planning and hosting information sessions to promote HWTC and our programs to community partners and potential participants.
- Coordinating off-site information sessions and outreach activities to advance strategic partnerships and engagement with target audiences.
- Informingand supporting the Communications Manager on the development and design of targeted recruitment marketing and promotional materials.
- Supporting recruitment strategies aimed at incumbent hospitality workers.
- Supporting recruitmentadministration as needed;
- Other duties as required.
About You:
The successful candidate will be passionate about community development and is a strong and effective convenor. You must possess a strong understanding of the social services sector in Toronto and have demonstrable experience in facilitating and managing partnerships. The ideal candidate will possess a strong community network and a strategic approach to engagement activities.
The candidate will be a dynamic speaker and presenter with enthusiasm and strong motivational skills. You will be a team player with the ability to managemultiple priorities and work with diverse stakeholders.

Experience:
- 3-5 yearscommunity development and or community engagement experience;
- Knowledge of community services environment and organizations in Toronto;
- Knowledge of Ontario Employment Services, Ontario Works and ODSP services
- Experience working in hospitality.
- An understanding of systemic issues that affect the experience and needs of learner’s/job seekers, includingindividuals with: English as a Second Language, experience in the refugee and immigrationsystem, experiences of poverty, trauma, disabilities and mental health experiences;
- Knowledge of workforce development strategies is an asset.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and timelines effectively, including project timeline deliverables and project targets;
- Sense of humour and adaptable, with an appetite for challenges and problem solving;
- Knowledge of SalesForce or other relational databases is an asset.
This is a one-year contract position with a strong possibility of renewal. This is a full-time position. Some evenings and weekend work is required.
Compensation for the position is competitive commensurate with experience.
