Part Time, schedule may vary week to week with some early morning commitments. A 2-3 year commitment will be required. 40 weeks a year, starting August 1st and ending the first week of June.

Description

Junior Achievement empowers young people to own their future economic success by enhancing the relevancy of education. At every grade level JA programs expose students to basic business concepts and the skill that enable them to understand real-life economics. Across 30 counties in northern Indiana and southwest Michigan, and into Van Wert, Ohio, more than 5,500 volunteers mentor 121,000 pre-kindergarten through high school youth. In partnership with educators, adult volunteers deliver professionally developed learning activities and share their experiences with students.

The intern will be responsible for assisting with various projects for the In-school program team, more specifically, helping with the JA in a Day delivery method. The JA in a Day delivery method is a one day volunteer experience delivered in Middle and Elementary Schools in Fort Wayne. He/she will have the opportunity to be exposed to how a nonprofit runs and help spread the word about Junior Achievement.

Responsibilities

·  Assist the JA in a Day Program Manager in running a successful program.

·  Contribute to planning programs for the school year

·  Teach JA programs as needed in various classrooms and grade levels

·  Help rewrite volunteer enhancement worksheets

·  Assist staff with presentations to business leaders and educators

·  Assist with the planning and execution of the JA in a Day delivery method. This will include administrative support and day-of support.

·  Participate in team meetings and brainstorm sessions

Qualifications

·  Pursing BS/BA

·  Prefer GPA of 3.0 or higher

·  An interest in nonprofit organizations and education

·  Flexible schedule. Must have 2-3 mornings a week available

·  Comfortable presenting in front of adults and children

·  Excellent oral, written, and communication skills

·  Familiar with Microsoft office suite
