In this exercise, when you are asked to cite sources, you are to use the Chicago Manual (Turabian) style. Refer to the guides in this handout.

  1. Browse the Reference Collection to look for a reference book on your subject.

Look at the table of contents and index to see what topics are covered. For multi-volume encyclopedias, the index is usually found in the last volume. You may also refer to the list of reference books listed below. The following call number ranges should be appropriate for topics on this list.

  1. Search the ProQuest Direct database for articles on your subject.

First you will need to create a search strategy, using Boolean operators (AND, OR.) Identify keywords for your topic. Select the option: Show articles from peer reviewed publications only. Experiment with the other settings: Date range, Publication type, Search in. Find an article on your country and cite it using Turabian style. Refer to the style sheet in this handout
