Introduction

Since 2012, Taiwan Art Gallery Association (TAGA) has been dedicated to balancing the art resources through different cities, and supporting the growth of art industry in Taiwan. After 5 years of devotion and exploration, ART TAINAN has successfully cultivated a group of faithful collectors and audiences that propel the art exposure and sales record to reach another peak in Southern Taiwan. In ART TAINAN 2018, the sixth edition of the most iconic art fair in Southern Taiwan, the fair would not only gather both international and domestic galleries, but also presents extraordinarily thematic exhibitions. It is our genuine hope that this year’s ART TAINAN would continue to present an innovative art-admiring experience to echo Tainan’s abundance of historial assets and pride of cultural delicacy to the art-lovers and audience in Southern Taiwan. To conclude, ART TAINAN 2018 is a platform built for galleries, artists, collectors, and audiences to share their thoughts, to discover the potential art lovers, and to develop art market within a creative, relaxing, and sophisticated hotel atmosphere.

Information

A.  Programs

1.  The Gallery Area:ART TAINAN 2018 will present 45-48 galleries from different regions and cities to show hundreds of international artists in Tayih Landis Hotel Tainan. Being held in Tainan, the oldest city in Taiwan with history, culture, ART TAINAN 2018 aims to absorb the traditions and charisma of Tainan to create and redefine the art trend that hopes to shape Tainan into the most exciting and unique art field.

2.  Art Journey in Tainan:ART TAINAN 2018 invites art lovers to view and appreciate Tainan’s uniqueness in art and culture. Through combining local activities and discovering cultural assets, ART TAINAN 2018 wishes to attract visitors from other regions to visit this unique city that nurtures Taiwanese culture and creativity through different Art Journeys.

3.  Lectures:ART TAINAN 2018 invites art professionals to share their knowledge and perspectives with the public. Art lovers would have the opportunity to update art news so as to cultivate art knowledge with profound and professional views.

B.  Objectives

1.  To connect art galleries, artists, collectors, and the public in an relatively accessible venue. Hotel art fair is the ideal platform that owns the flexibility to introduce art galleries and promoting emerging artists. Audience may find the latest contemporary art trends while galleries can peomote the visilibility of emerging artists in the market.

2.  To strengthen cultural and creative industry in Southern Taiwan by incoporating Tainan’s local resources in order to expand regional economy.

3.  To maintain active relationship with Taiwan-based collectors while establishing bonds with new generation of young collectors. The estimated turnover is expected to be over USD 1.5 million with at least 5,000 visitors.

C.  Application Process

1.  Application Deadline:January 5th (Fri), 2018

Please kindly complete the application form in WORD & PDF format (file size below 10MB) and email to with required information before January 5th (Fri), 2018. The application form will not be returned; it is highly recommended that the applicants keep copies of all materials. The confirmation mail will be sent once the application form is received. If applicants do not receive confirmation mail from the Executive Committee in three days, please contact the Executive Committee.

2.  Announcement of Evaluation Result: January 16th (Tue), 2018

3.  Booth Fee Payment Deadline: January 23rd (Tue), 2018

All the exhibitors MUST pay the full booth fees before this date, or the application will be cancelled and the exhibitors will be disquliafied for participation.

4.  Announcement of Booth Allocation: Janurary 29th (Thu), 2018

Any canellation after the announcement of booth allocation is not subject to refund of the fee payment from the organizer.

D.  Terms and Conditions

1.  Please complete the application form and provide relevant artist information (Name, Medium, Year of Birth, Nationality) for evaluation, and indicate the exacts artworks to be used in the catalogue.

2.  The Executive Committee will evaluate the application and relevant artist information.

3.  The selection is made by the Executive Committee. Applicants shall guarantee that all the information provided in the application is accurate and will not be changed without Executive Committee’s permission. The Executive Committee reserves the right to cancel the participation if the exhibitors fail to follow the terms.

4.  Exhibition room shall not be changed or transferred to other exhibitors. Any display of artworks outside the exhibition room is prohibited. The Executive Committee reserves the right to cancel the participation and will not accept the application in the future if the exhibitor fails to follow the terms.

5.  Applicants shall guarantee that all artwork submitted is authentic. The Executive Committee reserves the right to cancel the participation if the exhibitors fail to follow the terms.

6.  Art crafts and antiques are not accepted for exhibition during the fair.

7.  The Committee will carefully review the information provided by applicants; the announcement of selection result will be announced on January 16th (Tue), 2018. Exhibitors shall follow the payment instructions upon admission to participating ART TAINAN 2018.

E.  Regulation and Guidelines

1.  Exhibitors shall open the exhibition room by 11:50 AM in the morning. During the fair, any delay or early closure of the exhibition time is not allowed.

2.  In addition to the public exhibition space allocated by the Executive Committee, exhibitors shall present the artworks only in the exhibition room. It is prohibited to place any personal items, flower baskets, posters, decorations, or artworks at any public space and aisle.

3.  All exhibitors shall cover their own insurance for the artworks during the fair. The Executive Committee and the hotel will not be responsible for any loss or damage to exhibitors.

4.  During the exhibition and installation days, staffs of the exhibitors shall have the Exhibitor Pass or Installation/ Dismantlinging Pass to enter the exhibition venue for admission.

5.  In order to maintain the exhibition security, please fill out the “Artwork Release Form” and bring it to the Exhibitor Service Counter with Exhibitor Pass and Business Card before the artwork can be released from the exhibition. After examination and stamping, the artwork will then be released.

6.  The Executive Committee is solely responsible for Public Liability Insurance during the fair. All exhibitors must follow the safety principles and self-insure the cost of damage, loss, theft, robbery, fire, water damage, transportation and other situations. In any case or scenario, the Executive Committee is not responsible for the damage of the artworks, nor for the equipment. All exhibitors must compensate for damage caused by the equipment or related to the staff, other exhibitors, visitors, etc. The Executive Committee has no obligation to exhibitors for direct or indirect damages of artworks.

7.  Exhibitors shall not proceed with installation or dismantling beside the time appointed by the Executive Committee.

F.  Important Notice for the Usage of Exhibition Space

1.  It is required that at least one staff of the Exhibitor to stay in the exhibition room for the entire duration of the opening hours and cleaning time.

2.  Any share of the exhibition room is not allowed.

3.  Exhibitors shall install the room according to the exhibitor’s manual. Please do not drill or nail the wall and do not damage the wallpaper, furniture and equipment. The hotel staff will examin the room at the time of check-in and check-out. If there is any activity causing damage, exhibitors shall compensate the losses and the cost to Tayih Landis Hotel.

4.  Please do not remove large furniture or the bathroom door.

5.  In order to avoid electrical hazards or blackouts, please do not exceed the maximum usage of electricity of the hotel room: max. 5 amps for each circuit, and max. 2 circuits with a total of 10 amps.

6.  Exhibitors shall dismantle and clean up the room according to the exhibitor’s manual. If there is any damage caused, exhibitors shall compensate the losses and the cost to Tayih Landis Hotel.

7.  Smoking in the exhibition room is strictly prohibited. Exhibitors are not allowed to carry dangerous goods into the room.

G.  Force Majeure

In the presence of any third-party default, accidental happening, political and economic events, and orders by authorities, the Executive Committee has the right to postpone an event, shorten or prolong its duration or adapt its operation to circumstances. In all such cases, the Executive Committee carries no liability, and exhibitors will not be entitled to withdraw from the contract or to claim compensation. Compensation or refund will not be given on such occasions.
