Try a trade, educate others, advertise your business and network with various tradespeople. It’s projected that by 2017, there will be approximately 38,000 positions available within the trades due to retirements and the growth of trades sectors. There is no better time than now to aide in shaping the future of Saskatchewan’s youth.

North West College and the North West Career Development Partnership aim to bring students from Living Sky School Division, Light of Christ Catholic School Division, Northwest School Divisions, adult upgrading students at North West College and the members of the general public in one venue to showcase different careers in trades. Participants can expect to experience a variety of interactive booths including welding, electrician, hairstyling, institutional cooking among other trades. Through this event we have served over 8,000 students throughout the region.

This year’s Try-A-Trade event will be held on Wednesday October 26th, 2016 at the NationsWEST Field Housein North Battleford. It promises to be a great event and we hope to haveover 40interactive exhibitors and at least1,200 people attending.

A friendly competition among North West College Trades students.

Students from each of our six trades programs will team up in an attempt to build the ultimate machine.

Using only left over scraps from each trades program, each team will have to follow special rules and guidelines in order to rule the North West College “Junk Yard!”

Team sponsorships cover the cost of each North West College team participating in the Junk Yard Wars Competition to be held in conjunction with Try a Trade.
