New website!

Carl Barker is redesigning our website and is aiming to create a new website which will showcase our achievements as a club, our history and most importantly you, our members!

With this in mind, he is looking for crew, squad, and individual photos, ideally in a rowing context but in and around the club (or other clubs/rivers) would be great. If you have any photos please forward them on to him on or through Facebook, (although email will likely ensure a better quality). He will be running a competition for the best photo which will feature as our home page so really put your photography skills to the test! Early morning scullers at sun rise spring to mind, hot air balloons in the back ground, steam trains over the double bridge etcetc you get the idea.

Entries close 31st October 2016, photos will be shortlisted by the committee members with the final photos judged by number of "Likes" on the YCRC Facebook group.

Thanks in advance and Good Luck!

Club blazers

I am sounding out the level of interest in getting a club blazer. They take time to make and so if think you might be looking to cut a dash in the summer, you need to let me know now. Unlike previous years , the manufacturer will be making fitted blazers for ladies as well as the standard fit for men. In terms of cost, it will depend upon the level of interest, but is likely to be in the region of £160 - £200. If you think you might be interested or would like any further information, please do drop me an email – .

Kit window

I have opened a kit window for club kit and it will remain open until 23rdOctober. It works like this. Go onto the Godfrey website and find the YCRC page or follow this link Order your kit before the window closes and you will be quoted a price that is the most you will pay. When the window closes, Godfrey will look at the order numbers and reduce the price accordingly. All the kit is then sent to me, usually about 3 – 4 weeks after the window closes so that you will also save on postage and Godfrey have guaranteed to get the kit to me before the York Small Boats Head. If you are still not clear, just drop me an email.

Second hand kit

The following items of kit have been donated to the club, so all the proceeds will go to the boathouse fund. It’s all in good condition, first come, first served!

Godfrey plain black long sleeved tech top XL - £10

Powerhouse leggings black with white stripe XXL £10

Men’s blue lycra ? size and make, probably Godfrey XXL - £15.

If anyone has any kit they don’t want/need, please do let me know. Anyone donating good quality YCRC kit will get first refusal on any other second hand kit.

Social events

Two major social events are being arranged. First, there will be a Wine Tasting in the rowing club bar on the 28th of October from 7 for a prompt 7:30 start. Tickets are £15 each and can be bought through WebCollect (note that you must be logged into your account as this is a members-only event). Partners are welcome, over 18s only. Those participating in the wine tasting will be asked to bring a dish to share (a list will be sent out in due course). Places are limited so book now to avoid disappointment. Tasters can expect about 4 glasses each of red and white wine.

Secondly, the YCRC dinner will be held on Saturday 3rd December from 6pm. Tickets can be purchased via Webcollect, but please note that the last purchase date is 31st October. All queries to

Both these events are hugely enjoyable, so do book places now.

Bled 2017

The World Masters Rowing Regatta 2017 will be held in Bled from 6 – 10 September 2017 and there is already a committed cohort of YCRC rowers going. Planning is well underway, with hotels being booked, trailer transport arranged and training plans started.
