110 CURTAIN WALLING
- Supporting structure: blockwork walls & steel sections were required
- Curtain walling system: Mullion-transom aluminium curtain wall system
Type: Stick system pressure equalised mullion drained
Product reference:
MB SR50N - pressure plate (aluminium K417890), Uf from 1.4W/m2K.
Air permeability – class AE1050 (1050Pa).
Water penetration – static class RE1200 (1200Pa) and dynamic (600Pa)
Wind resistance +/- 2.4kN/m² Design Load
Hose test pass in accordance with CWCT standard.
The system shall be ventilated, mullion drained and pressure equalised.
The system shall be suitable for constructing thermally insulated vertical facades, facetted
facades and skylights using a combination of fully compatible mullions, transoms and
proprietary accessories, all directly supplied by the system manufacturer.
Face width shall be 50mm on all structural profiles
Possible construction methods must include stick or ladder type installation.
Main structural box configuration shall be internal, thus minimising thermal expansion.
Installation of transom sections after installation and alignment of the mullions/ladder
assembly must be possible.
Horizontal expansion joints between transom and mullion or split mullion must be available.
The drainage between transoms and mullions shall be provided by a stepped profile to
ensure effective drainage.
Attachment of the transom to the mullion shall only be provided in areas where the fixing is
protected by a water seal.
A proprietary seal shall be installed between the interfaces of the transom and mullion.
No perforation of the internal structural members is permitted, within areas of drainage,
without the prior approval of the system manufacturer.
To include all products, fixings and interfaces necessary to complete the fabrication and
installation. Performance criteria to comply with the Design / Performance Requirements
and Testing subsections.
Internal framing member
- Material: Powder coating as Section Z31. Constructed with profiles extruded in anodising
grade aluminium to EN AW 6060 T66(Al Mg Si 0.5 F22).
- Finish: Powder Coated as section Z31
Colour/ texture: RAL
Minimum film thickness: generally 60 microns
External cover cap
- Material: Powder coating as Section Z31. Constructed with profiles extruded in anodising grade
aluminium to to EN AW 6060 T66(Al Mg Si 0.5 F22).
- Finish: Polyester powder coated as section Z31
Colour/ texture: RAL
Minimum film thickness: generally 60 microns
Glazing
Mechanical retention of the glazing unitshall be by an aluminium extruded pressure plate, screwed through the thermal isolatorinto the mullions and transoms nosing all round each glazing panel.
Glazing panel
- Inner pane:
- Cavity: _
- Outer pane:
Glazing system: Gaskets as clause 760. Pressure plate fixed Standard Units. The
system shall be capable of supporting single pane or insulating glazing units of 4mm up
to 48mm thick, by selection of appropriate isolators and gaskets. The system should be
capable of carrying glazing units of up to 2.4kN.
- The glazing supports 80126029 shall be anodizing aluminium and will be held in place, by attaching into the aluminium transom profile.
- The mullions and transoms shall be separated from the pressure plates using
proprietary thermal isolation profiles with inclusive EPDM fins that provide enhanced
thermal isolation performance.
- Proprietary glass support pads of a thermally sound and inert material 80453039 must be
available. These shall permit continuation of drainage & ventilation.
- The system designer shall stipulate the torque setting for pressure plate fixing screws so
that a uniform pressure is applied to the glazing throughout the installation.
- All screws shall be in A2 stainless steel.
- All gasketry and vapour barriers used in the system shall be proprietary EPDM as
supplied by the System Manufacturer.
- Rebate base ventilation and pressure equalisation must be achievable from all four
corners of module fields into the mullion rebate.
- Inner gaskets are square cut lengths, butt jointed in situ and adhesive bonded to
proprietary moulded corners, in accordance with the system manufacturers
recommendations.
- The façade perimeter shall be made watertight and airtight using a continuous and
impervious proprietary EPDM foil designed to be compatible and integral with the
façade system.
- The system shall include specially designed aluminium perimeter profiles K430418 to ensure the
EPDM foils seal effectively from the façade to the surrounding structure.
- The drainage between transoms and mullions shall be provided by a stepped profile to
effective drainage from transom to mullion. A water seal shall protect joins between the
two sections.
- Seal 120615 shall be installed between the interfaces of the transom and mullion.
- No perforation of the internal structural members is permitted, within areas of drainage.
- The installing contractor shall ensure all gasketry is aligned in visible areas.
Accessories:
- The curtain walling system may be reinforced by aluminium or steel inserts as necessary and be complete with all the structural members to resist the dead / imposed loading.
- The curtain walling system and all the associated fixing brackets shall be capable of
transferring all loads subjected upon or by the facade, back to the primary or secondary
building structure
- The sub-contractor shall ensure that no thermal bridging occurs anywhere in the
system.
- All components, tools and jigs necessary to complete the fabrication and installation
must be available from the System Manufacturer, including fixings, gaskets, vapour
barriers, sealant and building attachment accessories.
-The curtain walling system shall be able to incorporate different type of openings supply by the manufacture.
