A RESOLUTION adjourning the Senate in loving memory and honor of Noah Leon Tackett.

With deepest respect and admiration, we pay homage and tribute to Noah Leon Tackett, and we pause in silent reverence for his soul.

WHEREAS, Noah Leon Tackett was born on June 23, 1932, a native of Pike County, Kentucky, and longtime resident of Ashland, Boyd County, Kentucky, and he traversed these earthly bounds on March 29, 2002; and

WHEREAS, Noah Leon Tackett was the loving son of the late Noah and Mamie Hopkins Tackett, he was the devoted husband of forty-nine years to Betty Manning Tackett, he was the loving brother of a sister, Mollie Cooper of Portsmouth, Ohio, and two loving brothers, Frank Tackett of Wurtland, and Donald Tackett of MacClenny, Florida; and he was the proud uncle of several loving nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own; and

WHEREAS, Noah Leon Tackett was an active and involved citizen and an esteemed member of the Boyd County community where he was a well-known philanthropist and founder and president of People Helping People, an organization that benefits senior citizens, victims of natural disasters, and sick children by using proceeds from bingo games to help the less fortunate pay for gas money, medical prescriptions, electric bills, food, and clothing; he founded and operated a Saturday night country and western show, the Coalton Country Jubilee, where local folks could showcase their singing and dancing; and he was also owner of Gate City Auctions; and

WHEREAS, Noah Leon Tackett served his country with honor and distinction in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict; and

WHEREAS, the passing of Noah Leon Tackett has left a void that cannot be filled, and he is mourned across the length and breadth of the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE,

Be it resolved by the Senate of the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky:

Section 1. The Senate does hereby express its profound sense of sorrow upon the passing of Noah Leon Tackett, and extends to his family and many friends its most heartfelt sympathy.

Section 2. When the Senate adjourns this day, it does so in loving memory and honor of Noah Leon Tackett.

Section 3. The Clerk of the Senate is hereby directed to transmit a copy of this Resolution to Mrs. Betty Manning Tackett, 4620 Jewell Street, Ashland, Kentucky 41101.
